The Salk Institute, La Jolla, California
This is the Salk Institute for Biological Studies on the Pacific Coast in La Jolla, California. It's an amazing piece of tectonic architecture created by Louis Kahn with a Plaza that provides a view of the Pacific Ocean.
It's meant to provide inspiration to the researchers working in this institute. And I can assure you, it is an inspirational location. I felt a great sense of mystery and inspiration, ZEN if you like, while being at this particular place.

A recent trip up Ben Nevis with my daughter post GCSE's. A stinking hot day, but great view from the top of Ben Nevis.
For those interested in processing, there is no B&W conversion in this image. I applied a bleach bypass filter and then selective saturation for the emphasis.
taken in near darkness. Raw image converted in Nikon View NX-i, imported into aperture, taken to manual noise reduction in Define 2. Image sharpened a cleaned in aperture and then another manual Define2 noise reduction on the background. I am amazed at the result...

ABOUT THIS IMAGE
Morning Mist II
I made this image in 1999 with a Canon Ftb a 35mm film camera using Fuji Velvia 50 Color Transparency film. In 2004 or so I scanned the slide using my Nikon 9000 film scanner and converted it to B&W.
I dont care if you are holding a carrot. I stays HERE!
This is one of my all time faves. If you look real close, you will see that only the water in the trough is horizontally level. Check out the rest of the goofy angles in the logs, the door and even the horse seems to be slightly akilter.
There were riots in Paris during our visit but the riot here was of a different sort. A riot of color from all the many flowers in full bloom on this sunny (mostly) day. Too much in fact. I was much happier going from the main garden shot here over to the water lily pond which was mostly in shade. I got far fewer shots than I expected during the visit but, if you are a fan of Monet, it is well worth a visit. I darkened the yellows considerably making the greens more sedate while still opening the shadows which were quite dark due to the harsh light.
This garden was quite crowded so it was nice that I was able to get a shot with only a couple of the visitors clearly visible. This was shot from a window in Monet's house late in the visit. By then, the crowds had thinned.
