Clicked on 29 Sept 2014 at #Palolem #southgoa beach, when i was not so sure about #longexposure shots. Moreover, windy September, not so rock-solid tripod(it was my first tripod, now I am having a rock solid manfrotto) make life not easy for any photographer.

Taken on 25.08.2020, Moon provides the best linkage to Earth’s early history. It offers an undisturbed historical record of the inner Solar system environment. Though there are a few mature models, the origin of Moon still needs further explanations. Extensive mapping of lunar surface to study variations in lunar surface composition is essential to trace back the origin and evolution of the Moon. Evidence for water molecules discovered by Chandrayaan-1, requires further studies on the extent of water molecule distribution on the surface, below the surface and in the tenuous lunar exosphere to address the origin of water on Moon.

The lunar South Pole is especially interesting because of the lunar surface area here that remains in shadow is much larger than that at the North Pole. There is a possibility of the presence of water in permanently shadowed areas around it. In addition, South Pole region has craters that are cold traps and contain a fossil record of the early Solar System.

Brief Synthesis

Humayun’s Tomb, Delhi is the first of the grand dynastic mausoleums that were to become synonyms of Mughal architecture with the architectural style reaching its zenith 80 years later at the later Taj Mahal. Humayun’s Tomb stands within a complex of 27.04 ha. that includes other contemporary, 16th century Mughal garden-tombs such as Nila Gumbad, Isa Khan, Bu Halima, Afsarwala, Barber’s Tomb and the complex where the craftsmen employed for the Building of Humayun’s Tomb stayed, the Arab Serai.

Humayun’s Tomb was built in the 1560’s, with the patronage of Humayun’s son, the great Emperor Akbar. Persian and Indian craftsmen worked together to build the garden-tomb, far grander than any tomb built before in the Islamic world. Humayun’s garden-tomb is an example of the charbagh (a four quadrant garden with the four rivers of Quranic paradise represented), with pools joined by channels. The garden is entered from lofty gateways on the south and from the west with pavilions located in the centre of the eastern and northern walls.

The mausoleum itself stands on a high, wide terraced platform with two bay deep vaulted cells on all four sides. It has an irregular octagon plan with four long sides and chamfered edges. It is surmounted by a 42.5 m high double dome clad with marble flanked by pillared kiosks (chhatris) and the domes of the central chhatris are adorned with glazed ceramic tiles. The middle of each side is deeply recessed by large arched vaults with a series of smaller ones set into the facade.

The interior is a large octagonal chamber with vaulted roof compartments interconnected by galleries or corridors. This octagonal plan is repeated on the second storey. The structure is of dressed stone clad in red sandstone with white and black inlaid marble borders.

Humayun’s garden-tomb is also called the ‘dormitory of the Mughals’ as in the cells are buried over 150 Mughal family members.

The tomb stands in an extremely significant archaeological setting, centred at the Shrine of the 14th century Sufi Saint, Hazrat Nizamuddin Auliya. Since it is considered auspicious to be buried near a saint’s grave, seven centuries of tomb building has led to the area becoming the densest ensemble of medieval Islamic buildings in India.

This being a view from Darjeeling Tourist Lodge of West Bengal Tourism Development Corporation Limited (WBTDC). Because its a bright sunny day, shadow came out prominently on the lawn. The peaks were visible till 1 PM on that day in November 2015 while we completed our Darjeeling Himalayan Railway or, toy train journey to Ghoom Station and back !

The UNESCO line now runs in between Darjeeling and Ghoom via Famous Batasia Loop. Ghoom is located at 2,225 m (7,300 ft) .

Advantage of having long legs

Flamingo

Type: Birds

Diet: Omnivore

Size: 36 to 50 inches; wingspan: 60 inches

Weight: 8.75 pounds

Flamingos are famous for their bright pink feathers, stilt-like legs, and S-shaped neck.

When a flamingo spots potential dinner—favorite foods include shrimp, snails, and plantlike water organisms called algae—it plunges its head into the water, twists it upside down, and scoops the fish using its upper beak like a shovel. They are able to "run" on water, thanks to their webbed feet, to gain speed before lifting up into the sky.

Flamingos build nests that look like mounds of mud along waterways. At the top of the mound, in a shallow hole, the female lays one egg. The parents take turns sitting on the egg to keep it warm. After about 30 days, the egg hatches.

Flamingo young are born white, with soft, downy feathers and a straight bill. The bill gradually curves downward as the flamingo matures. Both parents take care of the newborn flamingo, feeding it a fluid produced in their digestive systems. The young leave the nest after about five days to join other young flamingos in small groups, returning to the parents for food. The parents identify their chick by its voice. After about three weeks, the adults herd young flamingos into large groups called crèches where they start to look for food on their own.

Most flamingo species are not endangered, although the Andean flamingo is listed as Vulnerable, and the Chilean, Lesser, and Puna flamingos are Near Threatened.

Lachung is a mountain village close to the Tibetan border, in the northeastern Indian state of Sikkim. It's divided by the Lachung River.

The village is home to the 19th-century Buddhist Lachung Monastery, surrounded by apple orchards. Nearby, the Yumthang Valley's Shingba Rhododendron Sanctuary protects many species of rhododendron.

The valley is also known for its waterfalls, pine forests and hot springs.

Mount Katao is situated in the Northern Part of Sikkim which is 144 km away from the capital city Gangtok. Mount katao height 15000 ft. Onlookers love to explore the beauty of Mount Katao. Entering into this area required the permission from Military. There are numerous adventurous activities that will keep your holiday worthwhile spent with snowboarding, skiing, snow tubing and many more.

Uttarakhand is not just about mountains and birds. It has some great collection of heritage sites like ASI protected Temples or, Monasteries dating back to centuries, strategically located next to rivers like Gomti, Saryu, Goriganga, Ramganga and Kosi (there are many biggies like Alaknanda, Mandakini, Nandakini etc but I am just mentioning the rivers, I saw enroute, while visiting the Kasauni-Gwaldham-Munsiary-Jageshwar circuit)

This place called Baijnath is well known for its cluster of temples, located at an height of about say 1130 mts, on the banks of the Gomti River.

If you start from Kausani located in the Bageshwar district of Uttarakhand, the Baijnath will be on your right , just walking distance from the State Highway No 11 connecting Kausani with Gwaldham.
