Between nightshift and being away on holiday in the Cairngorms iv not been on Social Media much… finally got a quieter weekend so the plan is to do some post processing and catch up on here… but as I sit here iv just noticed the laundry basket is overflowing so better do that too! This is the first of the photographs i made whilst on a family holiday in the Cairngorms. I just loved the way the sun backlit the birches and the wind was blowing the branches… using ICM allowed me to convey that motion if light and wind!

One shot i had hoped to take during this years visit to Kandy in Sri Lanka was a night shift shot from inside Kandy Signal Cabin.

Having befriended several of the guys who operate the box i was in with a better than average chance of pulling the shot off.

The language barrier was challenge especially when i wanted to turn the cabin lights off and alter the clock to make it look like the early hours of the morning (it was actually about 2000hrs) The old clock on the left doesn't work.

The main objective was to balance the lighting so as the semaphores outside the box stood out.

An everyday / night scene in Kandy box but trying to get the shot turned out to be a hilarious event where none of us could stop laughing.

I will never be a professional photographer.

There is some work to do...

I've jumped in on the nightshift every now and then at this place. Finding a parkingspot close by is very hard, but if you do, they'll charge you roughly US$ 11 per hour, even during the night.

So I decided to park on the inside yard instead. "All vehicles will be towed 24/7/365, parking strictly prohibited.

What they missed was that someone nearby must open the gates and let the tow truck inside. I was also in charge of opening the gates, which I never did during my shifts...😉

Night shift on Saturday night , this was the highlight of it helped by the foggy conditions and the floodlit yard.

Project 365, 2022 Edition: Day 332/365

This is a favourite knitted item I've been so busy wearing, I didn't get around to photographing it until now.

The pattern is Nightshift available on Ravelry or from the designer at www.dreareneeknits.com/. I made another one previously in 2019 and enjoyed it so much I made another right away. I guess I finished this one sometime in 2020. It was so lovely and warm I started wearing it around the house right away without bothering to block it. So the edges curled up more and it didn't want to be seen on social media. I finally fixed it this fall.

I used 7 skeins of Malabrigo Rios 100% superwash merino wool yarn. The colorways are Tormenta, Piedras, Indiecita, Aniversario, Niebla, Diana, and another I failed to record. Now I can't remember which is which, but the main colours of the 7 yarns are purple, dark indigo, deep blue, green, orange, oatmeal, and grey. It's luxuriously soft.

Thank you to everyone who visits, faves, and comments.

Night dives are special. Both in terms of lighting conditions and wildlife, many predators and small critters who spend the daytime hidden are observable. A photographer and his model (Giant moray - Gymnothorax javanicus) pose under the lights of the M/Y Cassiopeia at the Red Sea, Egypt.

I can never sleep during the day so after 2 1/2 hours sleep,i find myself with time on my hands and today ive been going through the files before deleting, thought I,d convert this to mono before deleting..Thanks for looking
