Wednesday Night Lights, that is. Technically, it was only dusk, not truly night. But the sky was begging to be photographed.

I took this in between light painting shots at a lake which is right to the left of the guard rail. I have never shot stars like this before and I am really happy with the results. You can see Orion along the tree line just above the power lines. A scooter came by lighting this up just right. A car raced through the following shot and it was too bright. In a sense a lucky shot.
Straight from the camera and converted from RAW with no adjustments at all. One of my favorite night shots I have ever taken.
You don't always need clear skies for night shots. I had originally hoped for nice starry skies behind this neat rock formation in the Ah-Shi-Sle-Pah Wilderness in New Mexico. However, I kind of liked the clouds in the shot, especially with a little moonlight and some distant light pollution giving a faint magenta color.
Night is a time of darkness and a time of calm. A time for me to feel safe, even if just in my very own embrace. Oh, I'm working on the painting of this flower by the way.
