At night when the crowds leave, the town of Riomaggiore on the Italian Cinque Terre coast becomes one of the most tranquil places you can imagine. The lights speckling the beautiful houses and the smells of dinner are the only signs of life.
Much of Vancouver's shipping is of bulk cargo (not containerized shipping), and ships anchor in designated pads out in English Bay to await port availability. This freighter is just off Point Grey, across the Bay from the heart of Vancouver.

First attempt at astrophotography. Taken in the Pine Valley Desert during the Perseid meteor shower. This was a 40 minute exposure.
A screenshot from the live video feed on safariLIVE. They use infrared so as not to disturb the animals they film at night. How magnificent to see this lovely lion out walking at night in the Maasai Mara in Kenya.

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ALL OF YOUR KIND VIEWS, COMMENTS AND FAVES, ETC.
The Milky Way makes about the perfect night light…for photographers anyway! Can’t see a blasted thing with no moon! The sky is composited from 20 exposures (10 s each at ISO 3200, f2.8, 14mm). The images were stacked using Starry Landscape Stacker. The location is the Chaco Cultural Historical National Park in New Mexico, a great dark sky location that has invited people to look up for millennia! Just cool enough to want the fly on the tent which helped tone down the light from my Goal Zero lantern for a separate long exposure. If you get the chance to visit Chaco and take in the night sky, don’t pass it up. Cheers! Made from 20 light frames (captured with a Canon camera) by Starry Landscape Stacker 1.6.2. Algorithm: Median
Late at night and not many in the streets but a man and his Sanshin(3 strings) instrument. And a little bit of alcohol.

Northwest Art and Air Festival is an annual event in Albany, Oregon. One of the highlights is the Friday night night glow.
This is part of my pandemic project. The project was created to minimize the number of people that I would come into contact with and to help keep my sanity. The location is a local university. From what I can tell the vast majority of classes are being held online leaving the campus empty with the exception of a few nursing students and an occasional group of Frisbee golf players.
The project started when my wife and I used the campus to walk the dog in the evening. I began to notice the architecture and interesting light fixtures. I started to return and photograph and soon had a project.

One night under the stars, milky way rises from above the mountains, and light pollution brings red clouds. I set up a tent, on the edge of a cliff, and my headlamp lightens up the sky, at this moment, I become a poet of the light.
Handheld with the FujiX100S at F/2, ISO3200.
Tried to tie the lines, colours and patterns all together.
I wear a T-shirt with this cool image on it that is a combination of Jane and the famous painting Starry Night. I'm sharing the image now on Flickr so more people can enjoy it.
This was created by combining several prompts, a seed, and an image of Starry Night as input into an AI tool called Midjourney.
I often think that the night is more alive
and richly coloured than the day.
