I normally do not make pictures to show fashion in any way, but rather just make pictures that I like. As an exception here, I will mention that this is one of the Solidea dresses for sale in connection with the "Love Donna Flora" Fundraiser. Its really black and white, but got a hint of purple in my picture. Lots of beautiful pieces from other SL designers there. More information about the event here: lovedonnaflora.wordpress.com/
Back with my Curio skin, that I do not think is available any longer. I just love it and have used it in many pictures. I hope the shop will be up soon with new and interesting skins.

a shot taken just a few moments after my previously posted one (see in comment below), and with me standing in exactly the same location, but in a different direction ... I am more and more interested in little 'time lapse' series of photographs, presenting a vignette in time, so to speak ... stay tuned for the next shot in this series, as it will reveal something interesting

Even though we have several northern lapwings (Vanellus vanellus) breeding in our neighborhood, I rarely see their chicks.
They are (luckily) good at hiding, even though their parents make a lot of noise if we should get close.
But last year I met two siblings right by a dirt road, who gave me some cute photos

Excerpt from Wikipedia:
Hong Kong Disneyland Hotel is the second Disney hotel in the Hong Kong Disneyland Resort in Penny's Bay, Lantau Island, Hong Kong. The theme of the hotel is of a Victorian style, and is located near Disneyland Harbour. The hotel is built on reclaimed land and opened on 12 September 2005.
The hotel has 400 guestrooms and a convention centre with ballrooms and function rooms.
The Convention Centre offers three ballrooms.
It is in Islands District.
"Micktorian" architecture style, a blend of "Mickey" with "Victorian", was adopted by the hotel. For example, "hidden Mickey" is gossiped to be found behind the Mickey-eared silhouette, such as carpet design and dinnerware. This specific design is interpreted as feng shui in Cantonese culture.
Warmth is another magic of the hotel. The hotel service specialized in "wake-up calls" and "character greeting", which shred its focus not only on the parents, but also on the children and their grandparents.
Walt Disney Imagineering mainly drew these two design elements from Disney's Grand Floridian Resort and Spa at the Walt Disney World Resort, as well as the Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris.
There are five restaurants in the hotel.
The hotel has one shop located on the lobby next to the main entrance. The shop sells drinks, park merchandise, toys and T-shirts. It is slightly Victorian themed, like the hotel itself.
There are 2 pools in the resort, 1 indoors and 1 outdoors. The hotel also offers other facilities including a tennis court, a multi-function court, a Mickey-shaped maze and a grass field in which some kids activities take place in. The hotel also has a Victorian Spa which contains a gym. Every day and evening a talented jazz band plays in the main area of the hotel.

Long exposure rapids next to an old tree which has seen it all before and has the scars to prove it (on the left in this shot). It's roots are constantly eroded by the monsoon surges of water, which can sometimes reach 2-meters in hight through this narrow chasm, and tsunami-like walls of water caused by fallen trees damming the watercourse or landslides upstream.

End of summer. It is getting darker every day, It begins to rain heavily and you need lots and lots of clothes if you want to go out. But don't worry! Summer will come next year! :)

Some of my most endearing and memorable childhood memories involve fireflies. I grew up in a suburban rural community next to a waterbody, where summer twilights were special. After the sunset, hundreds of fireflies blinked their way into the forest and my imagination. Chasing them, holding them, and letting them fly away was a pure joy never to be attained in any other way. My childhood twinkles brightly, in many parts, because of these fireflies. When something is so special, my son must endow it from me.
One problem with that idea… California has no fireflies.
Solution… The Appalachian does!
Thus, the other week, Rishabh and I flew cross-country with the specific intent of seeing fireflies in Appalachian mountains and forests, where many firefly species exist and display their fiery mating rituals for a few summer weeks. Of all these species, Photinus carolinous is special; this species has attained popularity as synchronous fireflies of the Smoky Mountains. As males of this mysterious species synchronize their flashing, the entire forest blinks in unison – like an IMAX theater displaying a fluidic form of Van Gogh's 'Starry night'. Thousands of flying fireflies flash about six times synchronously, and then after a brief period of total darkness, the cycle is repeated. This light show occurs only in a handful of places in the world and for a few scores of hours every year. If that is not exclusive enough, then consider the following: these fireflies do not flash if it rains, which it often does in these humid mountains around this time of the year. They also refuse to fly and fire if its too cold. Last but not the least, they are bothered significantly by any other light source and therefore are best viewed in secluded areas.
Because of such inbuilt rarity, synchronous fireflies have captured the public’s imagination. Thousands flock to trails near the Little River Valley in Elkmont, where the largest concentration of synchronous fireflies are reported within the Great Smoky Mountain national park. When we arrived at sunset, trails in Elkmont looked like a county fair without an admission fee; there were lots of people everywhere with their bug sprays, umbrellas, lawn chairs, kids and babies, and eagerness to experience something unique and uncapturable on video. While I appreciate everyone’s interest in nature, however, those crowded trails were a far cry from memories of my childhood, where I would often be the only one playing with fires of the darkness. Neverland can't be this crowded.
After diligent research, Rishabh and I found several alternative options. Over the next five consecutive nights, we saw, shot, and played with fireflies in several non-traditional locations spread across three national parks. The image presented above is of one such location by the Roaring Fork stream in the Great Smoky Mountains, where two kids – Rishabh and I – were the only witness to the firefly show. Standing within that mute orchestra of light and beauty, I realized why bluegrass music could have originated nowhere else, but only in this land of synchronous symphonies.
Technical information: The displayed EXIF data are for the background forest, which was shot at twilight before firefly flashing began. The image is a composite of several 20 second exposures (ISO 3200, f/2.8) shot later at the exact same location.

Massive lightning strike next to solo tree over rural gravel road in Southern Manitoba
Not photoshopped. A couple of times in the summer they open up the Winter Olympic ski jump training facility near Park City, Utah for people to slide down and go off the jumps (without skis). You land into a perfectly safe swimming pool, but because you're up in the mountains you can frame the picture so that only the distant valley, mountains and sky are visible in the background. It ends up looking like they're dropping from a plane wearing only a bathing suit. This is my son, I'm perfectly happy to just take pictures from the sidelines
The doors are open to next train on the Hjulsta route at the Kungstragarden station in the Stockholm T-Bana, subway. Stockholm's subway is a great way to get around and each station has something to make it visually interesting. The tile work serves the purpose here. And I like the blue of the old-style trains.
Next up is Rocky Mountain National Park. Definitely my favourite park in Colorado.
