Our Italy road trip was nearly over when we found ourselves somewhere in the mountains one evening. The roads up to this cluster of defunct radar dishes aren't really suited for driving anymore because there are massive potholes everywhere. However, somehow we made it to the top and got instantly rewarded with one of the most beautiful sunsets we have ever experienced.
Isolated and exposed, this forgotten military compound of the NATO is located on a 1.500 meters peak. Those four dishes were part of an enormous early warning system. In ten different EU countries those Troposcatter bases can be found. But in the end of the Cold War they all were abandoned.
After a delicious barbecue we hit the sack, just to wake up in a massive cloud the next morning. There was fog everywhere which created a unique mood!

whats next? that's a question I often get asked for it seems most folk think I am on the road to go full time.
Well full time isn't an option. it would be such a huge lifestyle change for no extra gain and an awful lot of pain. Well I would need a nose job to start with and that would be painful. it was when I broke it many moons ago.
And most importantly I just like being both of me.
So all that is next is more dull photos of me on this settee!

Well, I think the title pretty much explains how San Francisco 49er fans feel. Maybe some of them, anyway. These brilliant colors were turned on in support of the NFL football team, who had a very good season.
Anyway, this is the first image I ever processed for showing on flickr in Photoshop. I started the arduous journey of going back to school to really learn the program right. The trip will either end with a college certificate, or, should I find the time, motivation, and strength, Adobe certification (ACE).
Hopefully, someone can tell me before too long a good way to repair a water spot abberation that is easier than manually stitching back every pixle at high magnification. By the way, content-aware spot-healing, clone stamping, and patching did not work (for me). Haha. Thanks for any advce and for just having a look!

While we study the map, a snap of some typical Portuguese paving. An attractive feature of Lisbon and other Portuguese cities, but beware, these pavements can be treacherous when wet.
A rainy day across the capital but it did not stop me heading out to grab Lothian 852 seen at Newhaven terminus on Route 7. 16th June 2018.
The sad hulk of Avonside 0-4-0 saddle tank 'Askham Hall' (Works No.1772 built in 1917) at Threlkeld Quarry, remarkably still bearing its maker's and Railway Executive identity plates for permitted working over BR metals. It is not widely known that this diminutive saddle tank flouted the BR steam ban in June 1971, when its owner, the National Coal Board, wished to transfer it from Solway Colliery at Workington to William Loco Shed at Whitehaven. It was provided with a brake van by BR at Workington and simply worked the eight miles around the Solway coast, without any diesel pilot locomotive, but presumably with a BR pilot man on the footplate. Its Railway Executive registration plate, which it still bears, was clearly convincing enough for the local railway management!

In the late day sun, a westbound evening MARC train rolls across the Potomac River as it slows for a station stop at Harpers Ferry, West Virgina. The lead car looks to have spent time getting to know some urban plight.
All these b/ws were shot at the same crossroads in Nevada, at the junction of US Route 95 and NV-140. Empty place full of views.

This multi-million dollar industry is all down to Edmond Albius (1829–80), a 12-year-old slave from the Réunion Island en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Réunion His ingenious thinking enabled artificial pollination on a mass scale, which in turn enabled the industry that we know today. However, Edmond was never compensated for his contribution, dying practically penniless, and to this day is still relatively unknown ...
