This house is one that the Ervin Wauters family lived in when I was a kid growing up on the farm. My sister lived here a long time with her hubby and daughter so we got to know the place well. Then when they got a better house, my Dad moved in here off the farm. Now that Dad is gone, my cousin's son lives here. It sure looks bad!

The Council needs to hear from us again! When we raised our voices in October 2008 against the elimination of the City Arts Funding, the community prevailed. We are Artists, Patrons, Teachers, Parents, Youth, Cultural Workers, Business leaders, Families and Community members. WE CAN DO IT AGAIN!
The Oakland City Council considers a 50% Cut to Oakland Arts at a special budget session on Thursday, April 1, 2010, 7:00pm. This is one move closer towards elimination of the Cultural Funding Program, the long-established, competitive City program to provide arts and cultural services reaching 1,416,435 people in Oakland.

Fierce soldier, wouldn't let go the twig that my friend was holding.
Less than 1cm long, near a grass field.
I was wandering over near the Yale Bowl checking out the scene outside the Yale-Harvard football game. I caught sight of a kid parking this car, and couldn't help but take some pictures. How great is this paint job? Ah... mini coopers, you never cease to amaze me.
But maybe to start off with a bulldozer!! Difficult to find abandoned or derelict homes around here but I did catch this one this morning driving down to Sarasota.

Youghiogheny River Lakes hosted its 44th annual Special Recreation Day, May 8. The event offered more than 350 special needs people with an opportunity to fish, take hay and boat rides and much more.
This Owl burrow was conveniently located near the road and allows ready visual access to this growing family. We tend to stay in the car and shoot through the windows... the Owls are well aware of our presence, but don't seem to be disturbed. Other than the regular staredowns they carry on as if we weren't there. Here "Brave Chick" is giving us the once over. Mom looks like she needs a nap!
