Amelia Margaret Needs my first granddaughter was born on 30-01-2010. This photograph shows her sleeping soundly at two weeks old, when my daughter and son-in-law visited me from their home in Herefordshire.
Dolores needs an outfit for her ballet recitals. This is it. Designed by Franklin Habit in 2018. Kit purchased from Webs the Yarn store in 2018. Knitted in Stacy Charles Fine Yarns Stella in Silver & Deep Lavender. Knitted by me. Cast on August 2021. Work in progress.
As a mere lamb, Dolores appeared in a ballet school production of The Nutcracker as Dancing Pistachio #2. It was-n’t much of a part, but she made the most of it by sending Dancing Pistachio #1 into the orchestra pit with a well-timed grand battement to the rear. It was a portent of things to come. Dolores knew that she was destined, some day, to move into the spotlight—to dance the featured role of the Sugarplum Fairy. That day has arrived. The tiara is ready. Swathed in skirts that sparkle and ripple, she is a vision prepared to dance in your head. In your living room. On top of the bar. Anywhere, really. Just get anything breakable out of the way first.
Helping to build a successful community is part of Wayne State's urban mission. Lending helpful hands to uplift those in need is a critical cornerstone.
From April 1-24, the Wayne State Athletics Department W Week Community Service Initiative, in partnership with Wayne Cares, and Covenant House Michigan, hosted a drive to collect small toiletry items to make basic needs bags for those in need in our community and for Covenant House Michigan's efforts to help young people in transition.
The lands of the refuge were established to protect and provide habitat for migratory birds that cross State lines and international borders and are by law a Federal trust responsibility.
The refuge is of great value to waterfowl and shorebirds, as well as other migrating water-dependent bird species, because of the diversity of wetland and upland habitats that provide for the diverse life cycle needs of these species.

To all riders who competed in this show at Fox Lea Farm on 11.6.11: If you see, like, copy or print any of these photos, I appreciate your appreciation. Since I am an amateur photographer, I do not charge a fee for use of my photos and hold a creative commons license so that someone who wants one of my photos is not limited by a fee or licensing. That being said, this fellow animal lover has a dog in trouble and not a budget to give him the help he needs. I have set up a ChipIn page to collect donations for my Corgi Sampson's $2,000+ surgery to fix a perineal hernia. Please click on the link below to read our anifamily's story and make donations via paypal. Any donation is greatly appreciated, but if you save my photos to your computer I would like to ask for $1 per photo saved and $5 donations per photo you decide to print. Sampson and his Corgi buddies Shiloh & Rusty, as well as their human family thank you!

I guess someone got bored and decided to write in the dirt on this back door
I was trying to document my wine holder thing and decided to throw myself in there for one shot. Turned out better than I thought even though the focus is garbage. I of course didn't think about the fact that I'd need a much deeper depth of field because I am often times not very smart.

Of course it's possible to tell how deep the snow gets. Frequent painting of wooden structures is mandatory in our neck of the woods.

Who Needs Who, the new album by Dark Dark Dark, is a stirring and rich body of songs that sees the band breaking ground, and settling into the strengths of a quintet that has worked incredibly hard, both on the road and in their personal lives. The band's commitment to their music has proven to be a double-edged sword.
The first single, Tell Me, finds Dark Dark Dark setting a new tone for avant-garde pop. The beat is up, the drums and bass propel the song, and Nona Marie Invie’s voice soars between impassioned yearning and a resigned, empowered hope that reveals wisdom.
Most of the material on Who Needs Who was written by Invie in Minneapolis, and arranged by the band on tour and in New Orleans, where acclaimed engineer Tom Herbers joined them to record. The recordings are as dynamic as their schedules, the places they choose to work, and their friendships. In some ways, it is a wonder they exist at all.
It’s no minor detail that Nona and Marshall LaCount, Dark Dark Dark's co-founder and producer, were in a serious relationship that ended in early 2011, with a year solid of touring commitments ahead of them. On “Meet In The Dark”, Nona sings, “You want everything to stay the same, and then things change, but I’ll never get tired of singing these songs, no I’ll never get tired of singing these songs.” Despite increased tensions and heated arguments, the band showed immense patience and commitment to the music and their friendships. Ultimately, a five month hiatus at the end of 2011 and early 2012 allowed the band to heal, reflect and refocus. When the band reconvened in New Orleans for rehearsals, the initial awkwardness gave way to the creation of some of their most beautiful, revealing work to date.
"Many of these songs are about understanding and accepting the nuances of my emotions. The obvious parts and the dark parts. There are times when it’s important to quit fantasizing and face the truth about what is happening,” says Invie. Who Needs Who is ultimately refreshing and rewarding, and marks the beginning of a bold and promising chapter for Dark Dark Dark.
Since their last full length, 2010’s Wild Go, the band has toured extensively in the US and Europe, enjoying sold out shows, national radio appearances, and support dates for bands like The National and Low. They’ve had TV placements on Grey’s Anatomy, Parks and Recreation, and American Idol, and their appearance on the UK’s Live From Abbey Road was a highlight of the season. Dark Dark Dark will have a full US tour to support the release of Who Needs Who, followed by shows in Australia and Europe.
Who Needs Who is released October 2nd, 2012 on Supply & Demand Music in the US, October 1st on Melodic in the UK and Europe.
It needs some alterations, but I made this for my hubz for Father's Day. He's getting into grilling, so I thought this would be perfect for him!
Sandwich plays it old school with her love of VHS. Took us AGES to find her as she had squeezed through a tiny gap to nestle here. The camera can only see her because we had to move a stack of Chow Yun Fat movies.

Who needs grocery stores? The farmer's market this morning provided virtually all of the food we'll need/want this week.
Took photo of everyone and their brass instrument. I wasn't sure if they'd like their faces on my Flickr.
Who needs toys when you can play with random stuff around the house?? We have this wooden photo box with doors on the front/top that open/close. She loves to look at the pictures and point to people when prompted. And she delights in opening and slamming the doors! Love her expression in the last shot as she prepares for the bang!
This was my first time to create a storyboard. I used Coffeeshop Blog's triptych download, which worked quite well. And bonus....it was free!

Since I don't want to install Linux over my Tiger installation on my iBook I was trying to install Fedora onto a 1GB USB flash drive. I finally got the storage requirements down to 658MB but it still wouldn't go on there due to the system still needing swap space. I have an old hard drive I am going to pop into the iBook to see if it will work. Hopefully it will and I can write a blog entry comparing the performance of Tiger vs Fedora 8 on an iBook G3.
