Yoshi's right eye became infected on Hallowe'en. The vet said it isn't from a scratch but didn't seem to know what caused it. (We finally determined that our new siamese had infected him, and Yoshi must have a lowered immune system than the other two cats.) The vet prescribed Chloramphenical 1% ointment and said to put it beneath the eyelids... it appears there are 3!!! We have trouble getting it in the right spot and have no idea if we've really placed it beneath any of these eyelids as Yoshi squirms when we try. At any rate, this photo was taken on day 6 of the treatment and there is little, if any, improvement. The packaging says to give the meds for a week only as "Prolonged use in cats may produce blood dyscrasias." The vet said Yoshi isn't in danger of losing his eye, but I'm worried. Yoshi is still eating well. He's sneezing... we have a newly adopted new siamese who sneezes on occasion, and I was wondering if he could be carrying something viral. We had the new one vaccinated a month ago, and I believe that he had never been vaccinated before, in spite of being 4 years old. Neither of our other 2 cats have picked up Yoshi's eye infection. Has anyone else experienced this?
Any advice please!!!???
GOOD NEWS!! After 1 1/2 years and several vets and assorted eye drops, Yoshi's eye infection has finally cleared up. A cat breeder friend suggested adding L-Lysine (in 500 mg capsules) to the food. I originally put one capsule in the bowls divided among 3 cats- when i upped it to 2 capsules per day (opened them and mixed them in) the infection went away. L-Lysine boosts the immune system and fights cold sores. You can buy it in any drug store or health food store. YAY!!!!!
UPDATE:
The infection came and went for over 4 years! We treated it with (human med) polysporin for eyes, and l-lysine capsules mixed in the food, BUT when I STOPPED buying DRY CAT FOOD which contained CORN, SOY and WHEAT it disappeared altogether!!!!! (Cross my fingers) Perhaps it's an allergy to those ingredients, or that the SOY and CORN they use is GMO. I personally don't knowingly eat food containing GMOs so I shouldn't be giving it to my cats, especially since studies suggest GMO corn causes tumours and shrinking of the vital organs in lab rats. Many of us on entering the children's home were underweight for our our ages.
At eight and a half, I took clothes marked with a waist size for a boy age 5 - 7, yet I needed clothing marked 9- 11 height wise.
It was difficult to find clothes that fitted.

Pluto needs to share the space watchers’ love with Jupiter and Venus on Saturday. The two planets and the moon will appear in the west after sunset for stargazers to see, according to Sky & Telescope. Venus will nestle right next to the thin-crescent moon, especially from the North American view. But unlike their closeness of early July, Jupiter will float about six degrees right of Venus, Sky & Telescope said. Regulus, the brightest star in the Leo constellation, will come out above the three after dusk.
I suspect that this lawn mower once functioned, but that was probably before someone removed (parasitized) its motor and perhaps more...
I saw this on the grounds of the Purana Qila in Delhi.
Water drop from a tap into a glass full of water coloured with yellow food dye balanced on an empty plastic milk carton held up by 2 washing-up sponges. The background was a wet flannel! No expense spared in the making of this shot!

Day thirteen .. A short stop at Ayr. Then onto a place near Balloch, where we are staying the night.
The River Ayr is a river in Ayrshire, Scotland. At 65 km (40 mi) it is the longest river in the county.
The river was held as sacred by pre-Christian cultures. The remains of several prehistoric sacrificial horse burials have been found along its banks, mainly concentrated around the town of Ayr.
The name Ayr may come from a pre-Celtic word meaning "watercourse". Ayr could also be of Brittonic derivation, perhaps from the element *ar, an ancient river-name element implying horizontal movement. The town of Ayr was formerly known as Inver Ayr meaning "mouth of the Ayr" (see Inver), but this was later shortened to just Ayr.
The areas surrounding modern day Ayr were known to have been occupied by Mesolithic hunter-gathers more than 5,000 years ago. There is also a Neolithic standing stone at the end of Stonefield Park in Doonfoot, which is believed to have been upended as a place of sun worship by Stone Age men.
Ayr is a coastal town which lies on the mouth of the River Ayr. The river then flows out into the larger Firth of Clyde estuary. From the coast, the Isle of Arran can be seen, and on a very clear day, the northern tip of Northern Ireland.
