I know exactly how my mom feels. In my opinion, there is nothing more relaxing than sitting in a favorite chair on an overcast day, and enjoying the companionship of your best friend. And judging by the way Westie sat with her, the feeling is mutual.
I need to believe that we are infinite. That our bodies are just vessels that carry our souls for a little while, and when they wear out we go out into the galaxy to find the next adventure. I need to believe that there's a reason I am writing this. That one person out there will listen and let hope inside for once. I need to believe that good will always outweigh evil. Need for Speed - Golden Eagles are trendy right now and I can understand why. A bird with a 7-foot wingspan dashing after ground squirrels up close is truly a sight to behold!

Have you ever found one of those places that you never get enough of? This is mine. Brasstown Bald is the highest point in the state of Georgia. All too many times, I've driven 2 hours to get there, walked uphill the ⅔ mile, only to be inside a cloud at the top that was there for hours. Chances of getting there for a beautiful sunrise are very rare. Very.
I got more great photos of the area on this one morning, than all my other trips put together. The color was exploding, it was the peak of peak, and I was the only one there. I used to take every Friday off during the Fall, just to catch moments like these in the mountain. Once in a while.........I was lucky.
Southern California's been getting some rain. This morning, it's reached Outer Heaven. I surely do hope it keeps up. My plants are dying.

OK... I'm coming out of the closet.... I bought a macro lens (Tamron 90mm Macro). As somebody that considers themselves a serious landscape photographer I feel like I have donned an anorak and now I'm a train spotter. I don't know why, but I have never been overly interested in macro photography before ,but all of a sudden I felt the urge to try my creativity on a much smaller scale.
You won't be seeing any flowers or insects from me, but I will be trying to bring some of the principles of large scale lighting and composition to the macro world.
I have to admit though that I feel very clumsy operating in the macro world where depth of field is measured in millimeters.
This is the first of a few exercises that I have set myself to try to understand the world of macro.

The GTW got used to these trains being handed off by Conrail with half the power broken down and added units two GP9's at Detroit. The second and third units both U33B's had bitten the dust with only the lead former EL SD45-2 and a U25B working, looking back to September of 1977.
