Feeling a need to photograph the countryside of Dorset last night really paid off. It was a lovely evening for a drive and lots of scenery to admire under the glow of the golden hour.

This view of Melbury Down catches my eye whenever I pass by and I have never had the right conditions to get a good shot - until now! The sunlight lit the hills beautifully and the patterns in the land draw you in..... I am pleased with this one!

I also have to add its Martin Dolan Photography constantly posting gorgeous pictures of our local countryside that inspired me to get away from the seascapes - so cheers Martin! Go check out his work - its amazing!

If you've never had the pleasure of meeting a deer fly before, just visit Iowa in the summer sometime. This female will lay her eggs on vegetation hanging over water or wet soil. Upon hatching, the larvae eat organic matter in the mud, including tiny critters there. They stay buried in the mud all winter and pupate there the following spring before adult deer flies emerge. Females need a blood meal for egg development and often try to get it from us or another unlucky animal. Males are harmless and drink flower nectar.

No need to wait for Valentines day, love can be shared all year round.

U tend to build up the colour slowly, with thin washes. Hopefully the pencil drawing will show through the washes, so I won't have to draw the buildings all over again. The background areas need to be left fairly low key to suggest aerial perspective too.

This was from the end of my last roll of film from the west trip, which I brought to the Cincinnati Natural History and Science Museum last Monday for class. (We are redesigning exhibits in it, but I got distracted by all the sweet skulls and stuffed birds.)

Anyway, I still have loads of photos from my trip to share, so have no fear, those will be back. I just wanted to stare deep into the eyes to be hypnotized by this skull. Now, who's got some tumbleweed?

My grand fathers clock, the keyholes for wind

I'm thinking in made some belts and I can't decide wich is better for fasten.

Velcro allows fasten the belt at the waist or at the hips, and is easy to use.

Clasp gives a finish more beautiful, but the belt has a fixed size and the fastening is more hard. What do you consider preferable (examples are the photos 2 and 3, the first one would be the front of the belt)?

2) Photoshop CS3: (selective) Brightness, (selective) Contrast, Selective Color, Dodging, Unsharp Mask, dirt-retouching, Blur

They look like Shovelers, but the beak colour is wrong and the female's dark chestnut head too............drawn a blank.

Portland is the Bike Capital of the Northwest,I can see why.

While shooting a macro for this weeks Macro Monday subject (Vegetable) I snuck away this core of a Bell Pepper that was being prepared for lunch (If you're posh, dinner if you're common like wot I is).

After taking the shot I wanted to submit to MM I was idly turning the pepper remain around and one side there was a patch that was clear of seeds apart from one row. This image struck me as a "before" picture in a dentistry advert.

Being the mixed up kind of guy that I am, I grinned and took this shot, sorry if you're eating Lunch / Dinner.
