We need to re-study our Bibles, and learn

what real Christianity is--how holy, how heavenly,

how spiritual, how loving, how morally and socially

excellent a matter it is. What separation from the

world, what devoutness, what intense earnestness,

what conscientiousness, what enlarged benevolence,

what unselfishness, what zealous activity, what

unearthliness, what seeds of celestial virtue--our

profession of godliness implies.

Having examined this, and obtained an impressive

idea of it, let us survey our own state, and ask if

we do not need, and ought not to seek, more of the

prevalence of such a piety as this, which, in fact, is

primitive Christianity.

Is our spiritual condition what it ought to be, what

it might be, what it must be--to fulfill our high

commission as the salt of the earth and the light of

the world? A Christian, acting up in some tolerable

measure to his profession, walking in the holiness

of the Gospel--is the strongest and most emphatic

testimony for God to our dark revolted world, next

to that of Christ Himself.

I need a couple of days to overcome my inhibitions to post the second version of this view. Perhaps because the first image was surprisingly successful, or even the fear that the next image can not meet my expectations. In any case, it is an independent composition. I have moved the view position a little further to the right. Now a bush hidden the direct sun and provides a long shadow in front of the case. The foreground gets a new content with the lines in the field. I feel the composition of the landscape has win something. Perhaps it's because of the better staggered details.

I found this poor baby floating on top of water with his wings ripped and quickly scooped him out......he immediately crawled up on my hand.

I held him for a while as he just stayed on my hand / finger and we looked at each other.

I decided if he was making that much of an effort to live....then I had to help him a little.

When my kids were little and got sick, I used to make them a "sick bed".....with a nice warm afghan, movies, ginger ale, chicken noodle soup and a bell to ring for me when they needed me.

Since this poor thing did not qualify for a sick bed ( ; ) )....he got next to the best thing. He got a "sick box".....

We made trips out of the "sick box" to go from flower to flower, as his fully winged friends were doing. By me carrying him, it made the others not want to be around a "hand" that was trying to suck the sweet nectar out of the center of the flowers....so this guy got a little extra.

When he was finished......he'd hop back up on my hand and we'd go to another flower.

I cared for him for a few days and I went out one day and he'd "flown" all by himself up to my back deck chair. I placed him back in his "sick box" as I thought this was a premature flight, since his wings were still all ripped.

I went back in the house and came back to check on him and he was up on the lawn chair once again.....I let him stay.

A few hours passed and I went back to check on the lawn chair and he was gone. I can only hope that he is now flying free and happy and learns his lesson to stay away from pools of water....where next time someone may not be close by to rescue him........or want to make him a "sick box". ; )

I remember incredible pain and feeling a strange sort of trust as He scarred me forever that night.

Later, in my bathroom, I pulled off the bandage and gazed at the new mark.

It was a silhouette of Man in a cloak. strange...& Mysterious

A meaningless tattoo.

Mass Coastal's "Energy" Train (successor to Bay Colony's less-semantic Trash Train) rolls south over the Back River in Bourne, Mass. This would have been a nice shot with a northbound train, but scanner chatter indicated that the crew would not be pulling loads from Otis AFB this day, so I didn't bother sticking around for the return trip. I'll try again over Labor Day weekend and hope for loads coming back.

62-380 sits in depot at Zenica Steelworks along with several other locomotives of the same class. Whether they would ever work again was debatable as the works was on at a low level of production and had several diesels available as well as a couple of other steam locomotives in service.

I'd be pretty despondent right now if I hadn't spotted this monarch caterpillar in the Pagedale Head Start pollinator garden recently--the first in several years; what with last week's headlines about a 45% reduction in invertebrates' population in the last 40 years and the likelihood of our entering a new mass extinction in general. At least planting milkweed is helping the monarch (and native bee) population recover a little.

I love hearing this when I'm painting....makes me all warm inside!...

And no its not my dad,but was someones and his kid got him a tastefull chain from argos....bless.

A stretched piano Keyboard

I needed this small plate (15x 25 cm) as an experiment for a larger project. I had wet a few sheets of paper to print it. Usually you wet the paper the night before and keep it moist; the moisture soaks the fibers evenly, so that during printing the pressure of the press pushes it into even the finest marks to grab off the ink. But I didn't print, the day after.

I forgot the wet paper for more than a month in a plastic bag. When picked it up it was still wet but with a pleasant pink mold.

So - even considering the subject matter - I printed the etching on the moldy paper and this is the result.

Questa piccola lastra (15x 25 cm) mi serviva come esperimento per un progetto di maggiori dimensioni. Avevo bagnato qualche foglio di carta per stamparla. Di solito la carta si bagna la sera prima e si mantiene umida, in modo che l’umidità impregni le fibre uniformemente, così che durante la stampa la pressione del torchio la spinge dentro i segni anche più fini a strappare l’inchiostro. Poi non ho stampato. E ho dimenticato la carta bagnata per più di un mese in una busta di plastica. L’ho presa ed era ancora umida ma con una piacevole muffa rosa.

Così anche considerando il soggetto, ho stampato sulla carta ammuffita e questo è il risultato.

I needed a sympathy card and this came together quickly as I used an already colored and cut butterfly from my stash (CL383 Antique Engravings) and a piece left over from my color layering experimentation. The sentiment is from CL342 Everyday Sayings. I also clear embossed CG119 Flourish BG on the bg panel.
