recently I needed a helicopter as a birthday present. luckily the Italian convention was just a week before my deadline, there I met Gerwin Sturm and Gerwin can design basically anything you ask him for. he's a wonder :-))
so he whipped up this cute little helicopter and taught it to me. For the rendition in this photo I glued red tissue paper onto the silver side of a 35cm of foil paper. it folded like a charm ;-)
I recently came across a non-profit/activist group called We Da People and felt inspired. Wanted to make something that gave the same empowerment and healing that they do.

This is sweet Shiro - the last sibling of the two other kittens I've uploaded the last days - from my visit in their foster care home, for The Norwegian Society for Protection of Animals. I hope that he gets a nice adoptive home soon!

Shot this with a Meyer Optik Domiplan 50mm on 1.8 and used extension tubes. I created the bokeh with a bit of water. The purple colour is from the lavender plants.
You really have to view the full size photo. These Darren Heath-style shots are damn hard to pull off (the car was several hundred metres away) but I'm pretty happy with the result.
It's so great to be back behind the lens at a motorsport event again, the last time was that fateful day at Wales Rally GB when my 350D died on me in the rain!
Geologically Galdhøpiggen, as most of Southern Norway's mountain ranges, belongs to the Caledonian folding. The peak is made of gabbro, a hard but rather coarse-grained rock which is found in most of the Jotunheimen range. During the ice ages it was heavily glaciated and got its present form. The theory that the highest summits in Norway stayed above the ice as nunataks has been abandoned by most geologists. It fits well with the present flora in the area, but it does not fit well with the present knowledge of ice thickness and the results of glaciation.
For many years, geologists did not know that Galdhøpiggen was the highest summit in Norway. The honor was granted to the much more visible Snøhetta in the Dovrefjell range. Hence no attempts were made to climb the peak, while Snøhetta was visited for the first time in 1798 as part of a scientific trip to the area. In 1844 the geologist and mountaineer, Baltazar Mathias Keilhau, made two unsuccessful attempts to reach the summit. On one of these he reached the summit which later was named Keilhaus topp 2,355 m above sea level very close to Galdhøpiggen, but the terrible weather forced them to return.[citation needed]
In 1850 three men from Lom reached the summit, the guide Steinar Sulheim, the local teacher Arnesen and the church warden Flotten
This was from the end of my last roll of film from the west trip, which I brought to the Cincinnati Natural History and Science Museum last Monday for class. (We are redesigning exhibits in it, but I got distracted by all the sweet skulls and stuffed birds.)
Anyway, I still have loads of photos from my trip to share, so have no fear, those will be back. I just wanted to stare deep into the eyes to be hypnotized by this skull. Now, who's got some tumbleweed?
Pentax, 200 ISO film, etc. View it large?
Need help with the ID of this one for me please! ;0)
Wish you all a wonderful day and happy Weekend

Needed a dose of "everything will be alright" this morning, and then I got to see this. ♥
Someone posted "anything that holds you back, should only push you forward." Cheesy, but I also needed that. B/c it's what I have to do to get to the next step.

I was lighting these tree roots when Paul popped over to ask if I needed a hand, So after lining him up, I started the camera running, I lit Pauls hand in, then moved him out of the way and lit the rest of the tree roots. This not an AI or Photoshop creation,
Did you see the moon? White something in blue dark nothing. Even so, poets claim nothing is the absence of something. Like me without you.
there are moments in life
in which you need to stop
go back to your roots.
and restart.

These everyday situations where we can look upon something and feel happy. Flowers are always a source of deep happiness and joy. I have just finished my spring balcony gardening. This is the little corner right next to the French windows in front of my kitchen. I still need to plant some thyme and rosemary to add aromatic flavour to my summer cooking.
hips need to be tightened on the shape to ensure the pencil skirt look...

I need to scan more from my trip to the Maritimes in '77 before I can post any more from that trip, so I'll reach back to the New England/Quebec/Toronto trip in '74. There's been much quality action being posted from these interesting railroads, so I figure I'll throw in what little I got from my wanderings through Maine.
