On a visit to a nearby wildlife sanctuary, I caught this cougar napping in a hammock. I liked the relaxed feel of the shot and the tiny leaf clinging to his fur.
#41 in Explore. Hardly worth bragging about but it's the first time one of my photos has made Explore! Hehe. :)
18 hours together and Mary-Oliver is acclimating very well.
She slept soundly through the night, and lets us know when she needs to go outside.
The smiles have not left our faces. :~)
The Scaly-naped Pigeon (Patagioenas squamosa), also known as the Red-necked Pigeon:
The scaly-naped pigeon is a large slate grey pigeon with maroon coloured plumage around the neck. The plumage on the species' nape appears scaly, explaining the both the common, and scientific name of the species. There is a bare patch of skin which surrounds the birds red eyes; this patch tends to be reddish in males and more yellow in females. The legs and the base of the bill of the species are red, while the remainder of the bill is light coloured. The range of the Scaly-naped Pigeon includes both the Greater Antilles and Lesser Antilles. The species tends to occur in rain forests, however it may also be found in drier lowland woodlands; the species generally shuns areas of human settlement.

My hard-working brother-in-law fell asleep, and Theo and Abbey, their daughter's cat took the opportunity to curl up nearby. My sister would kill me if she knew I'd posted this, because her room was so messy. My brother-in-law would kill me because his butt looks big (he's not the slightest bit fat).
