Probably better known as the PT-17 'Kaydet' or just "Stearman", over 9,000 of this primary trainer were used by the Army and Navy during WWII.

Two days after the Parade of Planes and my modest night shots, I returned to the Palm Springs Convention Center to view the static display in the enticing dawn light. I think that special time of day has brought something to many of the pictures in this final part of my album.

 

On the east side of the Convention Center and particularly benefiting from the light were six aircraft on Avenida Caballeros including Boeing-Stearman N2S-3 Kaydet N63555.

This is a Navy version of the venerable Stearman WW2-vintage trainer aircraft. The all-yellow paint scheme earned these N2S-2 models the moniker of "The Yellow Peril."
