Fishing Time

Z9, 400mm, 1/800s, f/7.1, ISO 200

After watching this Grizzly wander down the bank checking out the river for fish, finally decided it was time to go fishing!

Forest Walks and Rain Boots

Self Portrait 15

Nikon z9, 34mm, 1/100s, f/8, ISO 500

I’m wrapping up this project of self portraits and moving on to a project I’ve been wanting to do since I started photography. I’ll keep incorporating self portraits some as it has been fun. Thanks for following and I’d love to hear which one has been your favourite!

Old and New Church House

Z9, 140mm, 1/80s, f/7.1, ISO 640

There is so much to unpack with the photo of New Church House. Such a rich history that you can read about on Holmalco Wildlife and Cultural Tours. This village has experienced vandalism in the last few years. When I first stopped by here 3-4 years ago, the house in the background still had its doors and windows. They have started restoring the village starting with a beautiful new dock. Unfortunately, an interloper sale boat camped out there. This is not a public dock - as are many docks up and down the coast - even if it is a beautiful place to spend the night, you definitely need permission!

Water Break

From the archives Oct 2024

On my own for my sixth bear trip, I headed out to explore Grizzly Bears off the Butte Inlet. This tour consisted of platforms and riverside viewing as well as a strong cultural component. The highlight of my trip was watching this bear search underwater for salmon. (Shot with Nikon Z9 70-200mm with 1.4 extender for 400 mm cropped and edited on LR mobile).

Happy 45th Anniversary

Nikon z9, 37mm, 1/200 sec, f/6.3, ISO 640

On this day 45 years ago, we were sealed for Time and All Eternity in the Manti LDS Temple along side two dear friends, Brent and Cris Fewox. At the time I couldn’t fathom being 45 years old much less being married 45 years! We have built a wonderful life through it all with many a bump along the way, but that’s what it is all about isn’t it? Today, our own children are in their 40’s, five grandkids are teenagers, with another this year, and the other three right behind. Where did time go? Happy Anniversary to us! 💕

Stripping the Fat

Z9, 400mm, 1/800s, f/7.1, ISO 200

I was hoping to get a shot of this bear stripping the skin off the fish to get to the fatty layer. Interestingly, at this stage the bears only eat the roe (fish eggs), brains, and fat off the skin of the fish in order to get the most calories and nutrients. If you’d like to see one of my past shots of a grizzly pulling off the skin, go to my Flickr account and link below from Grizzly’s on Toba Inlet in 2022.
