I'm as blue as this blue jay these days after Flickr took the draconian step to drop Windows as a suitable browser, since I'm now forced to take drastic measures to stay in touch with Flickr members. I can no longer fave or make comments through e-mail messages that link to Flickr member pages as my e-mail is set up through Windows. I cannot simply switch browsers since Windows is the only way we still communicate officially here in Winneshiek County. I do have a private Chrome portal on my computer, so I can access and work on my Flickr page, but I can't see who is faving my photos without jumping through too many hoops. So if you want to connect me with your photostream from now on, you must leave a written comment on one of my current photos. Then I can use that link to make a quick connection. Notice that my comment section is now open. I will not be following up on folks who simply favorite one or more of my pictures. I'm sorry about this major change, but I have to keep Flickr fun for me.

This version is made in LR of 5 photos taken with my E-M10 and tweeked in NIX. After a rather windy week this morning had almost no wind.

First trial at High Resolution (40 megapixels) imaging using my E-M5Mark II. The plant is in a small pot about 3 inches in diameter.

One has to zoom in on the image at 300% or so (in a photo editor app.) to detect the defects caused by vibrations. They are nonetheless there. The more reason to use a remote in addition to the tripod.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERA

Thanks to Olympus ProCapture mode that allows shooting full resolution pictures up to 60fps! Enjoy! Shot with my E-M1 Mark II and the Olympus 60mm f2.8 Macro lens at f3.2 and ISO200.

World Bicycle Day draws attention to recognise the longevity, uniqueness and versatility of the bicycle, and that it is an affordable, reliable, simple, clean and environmentally fit sustainable means of transport.

That's what my e-cargo-bike - my best purchase ever in the last 66 years :-)) - looks like after a normal visit in the garden center 8km away from home.

Happy cycling for you all! :-))

...I usually sleep in a tent and sleeping bag,

but sometimes my ( E )-bike needs new energy, my

body a shower and a soft mattress,

and my head needs 1 liter of coffee to fight sunstroke :)

Looks like a good place.

"Day after day

They send my friends away

To mansions cold and grey

To the far side of town

Where the thin men stalk the streets

While the sane stay underground

Day after day

They tell me I can go

They tell me I can blow

To the far side of town

Where it's pointless to be high

'Cause it's such a long way down

So I tell them that

I can fly, I will scream

I will break my arm

I will do me harm

Here I stand

Foot in hand

Talking to my wall

I'm not quite right at all

Am I?

Don't set me free

I'm as heavy as can be

Just my Librium and me

And my E.S.T. makes three

'Cause I'd rather stay here

With all the madmen

Than perish with the sad men roaming free

And I'd rather play here

With all the madmen

For I'm quite content they're all as sane as me

(Where can the horizon lie

When a nation hides

Its organic minds

In a cellar

Dark and grim

They must be very dim)

Day after day

They take some brain away

Then turn my face around

To the far side of town

And tell me that it's real

Then ask me how I feel

Here I stand

Foot in hand

Talking to my wall

I'm not quite right at all

Don't set me free

I'm as helpless as can be

My libido's split on me

Gimme some good 'ole lobotomy

'Cause I'd rather stay here

With all the madmen

Than perish with the sad men

Roaming free

And I'd rather play here

With all the madmen

For I'm quite content

They're all as sane as me

I found this spot after searching for quite awhile feeling kinda out of it (read the blog to hear more on that).

The flowers are just about in full swing at the Columbia Hills in Washington. I hear Rowena is starting, too.

Update on my E. Oregon project: I have reached $2,300! This is incredibly exciting, as I have now surpassed my goal. I still have many days left so I'll still try funding further, but what this means is that the project will happen now, no matter what!

Lots of Robins about at the moment.

Finally got my E-M1 MK II back from repair and service.

Spouting Horn is a blowhole on the southern coast of Kauai. Like most blowholes, it is formed when waves erode lava rocks on the beach and find a vertical opening. Hydraulic compression forces the water out at high speeds with every wave. The Horn also produces a characteristic sound, more hissing than horn blowing.

Explored on July 11, 2022 at #11. And my e-mail notifications are still not working...

VINTAGE OM Zuiko 50mm 1.8 Silvernose on my E M1

The brakes were in a very bad state.

After 3 days of being a pacemaker and a water carrier I thought it's time that it gets a service.

Oh lord, the last time I have been on a bike was in September last year.

My body needs some time to find back.

It needs a pause now.

My e-Bike is ready to start the saison too.

It got a new wire, is cleaned.

But it's too fast for being a Running

'Wings for Life' Training Pacemaker 😃

Slowly back to life.

File this one under the "Joe Got Lucky Files". I knew that 331 was approaching Brantford with CN 2106 and GECX 9124 as I left work in Woodstock. Figuring I had time to make it to Blenheim Road I set out to get them.

As I turned onto Blenheim Road I could see them approaching quickly. I literally had enough time to throw on my E Brake and hop out of the car...good thing my settings were bang on!

Then it was on to Paris West for a meeting with IC 2463W.

Obs cure

I found these syringes left over from making the juice for my e cig and this immediately popped in my head.

Flash through beauty dish above, flash with snoot and gel below then I removed the trigger from the hotshoe, picked up the syringe and popped the lights a second time when in position.

Single long exposure light art with a fair bit of adjustment in Lightroom.

Pick a car, any car, (but preferably a Ferrari and definitely a red one) and head for a slow drive. Anywhere. Maybe a picnic or just feed the ducks. Chill out in style.

A forced perspective shot of my old (1989) 1/18th scale model Ferrari 348 tb against the backdrop of our retirement village wildlife pond. This is another of my original and very old models to come in for some TLC and get a partial restoration job, Fully cleaned and polished. Windows returned to some level of transparency. Newly painted interior in original Ferrari colours. Still in need of more work on the body paint and window surrounds, but it is getting there. As they say - a work in progress.

This is also another shot taken on my newly created rig mounted on my e-trike. I meant to take a shot of it! Next time.

My thanks to all of you who stop, look and comment. I will be sure to check out your photostream.

Vernal Fall is a 317 ft waterfall on the Merced River. Unlike Yosemite Fall or Bridalveil Fall it is not visible from the valley floor. We took the Mist Trail to the top of Vernal Fall, this is the view from about halfway. To the top of Vernal it is about a 2.5 mile hike with a 1,000 ft elevation gain. Once we reached the top of Vernal, we decided to go on to the top of Nevada Fall. This was the hardest hike I've ever done. Nearly 10 miles round trip and 2,000 ft elevation gain, but it was 100% worth it!

Taken with my E-M10 and processed with Luminar.

The chance for BIF shots on Skomer gave me lots of practice with the new 3.0 firmware update on my E-M1 MKII and my hit rate was definitely much improved. They would fly in quite close so I found the 40-150 f2.8 my lens of choice allowing me more time to track and find it in the frame. This is nearly full frame with only a slight crop to centre the bird in the frame, sadly it had drifted slightly to the left hence the crop.

I edited this very simply on my i pad and shared to my e-mail as an experiment. realising, i think that maybe moving over to mac in a few days wont be so bad

About

Binary space.

As part of a paid assignment I was experimenting a bit with my e-fxg program to create a binary space.

The result lets me thing of the famous Gieger art that you might know from the Alien movies, if you never seen Alien before : SHAME ON YOU !-))

If you're gonna watch it, be sure to be alone and dim all the lights ;))

Effect applied : Holomorphic transform

The formula of the holomorphic transform :

Pixel defined by x,y :

Complex number z = x+iy;

z=z+ (0.01 -.1i ) / z;

New pixel value taken from 'pixel' :

x = real part of z

y = imaginary part of z

The effect was applied over 3 frames ( applied 3 times, on the result of the previous ).

Photoshop

° Copied the layer and applied a Chrome effect on it and changed blending mode to 'lightness' and the opacity to 50%

° Added a layer of brighteness and contrast.

° Added a layer of hue/saturation/lightness with a gradient mask to add a small blue tint to it.

° A small adjument with levels.

Music

With this weird kind of graphics we need a weird kind of song, I still love this to bits ( pun intended !! ) :

Here are some photos and a short video from the Rainmaker Nature Park in Costa Rica. I don't know why I mostly took landscape photos with my phone on this hike. I could have taken them with my e-m1x that I had out and ready with 12-100 lens so I don't know what I was thinking. Fortunately the photos from the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra aren't too bad.

With RTT and Open Track inoperative it wasn't until i checked my e mails that i saw the two Castles were underway. I arrived at my chosen spot in a shower of rain, cloud after cloud obscured the sun and i was beginning to doubt the forecasted fine end to the day.

I could here 7029 and 5043 passing through Newton Abbot with the 1Z22 1632 Plymouth to Birmingham New Street and i could see the next rain cloud hurtling towards me. Well Odin was smiling on me and i managed the glint shot i had planned and hoped for. Thank you Odin.

I accompanied my daughter to a fundraising event last night that culminated with a local musician singing original music in front of a small crowd beside a smaller campfire. Before playing this song, he told his audience that he was going to perform a piece written by a recently deceased friend, playing the same instrument that his friend last played before his death. He collected himself and performed admirably. It was dark, he was laser-focused, and he never knew I was there.

Shortly after capturing the images, we were talking and (seeing the camera on my hip) remarked that the most interesting thing about photography (to him) is learning what it was that compelled someone to take the picture, what it was that they saw that someone else didn't. I replied with these pictures as an example of story and light and the potential to create something meaningful. I obtained his email so that I could send him the pictures the next day. This morning, I received this in reply:

"Opened my e-mail this morning to a wonderful surprise. Glad our paths crossed on top of Wolf Mountain. Nothing worse than, “people writing songs that voices never share, and no one dare disturb the sound of silence”. If, I should say WHEN, my music gets recorded I believe I have found the cover picture. The clarity of black and white reminds me of Ansel Adams. I didn’t get my $1 tip* but from you received a priceless gift. THANK YOU!"

* inside joke ... he was performing for free as a favor for the event organizer

(Les francophones peuvent consulter la version française du livre tout à côté de celle-ci, sur ma galerie)

I am pleased to announce the publication of "Inner Landscapes", my first book of photographic art, as well as, "Paysages intérieurs" the French version. These eBooks are offered free of charge.

They are distributed by Apple (in iBook format for Mac users) in 51 iBooks Store in the world, and by myself in PDF format for all other systems (PC, Android tablets, etc. ). Hyperlinks for downloading these books appear at the end of the text below.

Expressing visual emotions

My "Inner Landscapes" gathers digital images I created from photos taken during my travels on the roads of North America. These images are the fruit of my incessant dialogue with the world around us, with its forms, its colors, its light, its textures and the emotions it gives us to feel. There are the "visual emotions" I superimpose on my photos. It results in an improbable world, dreamed, imagined, that defies our traditional representations. Hence the title given to this book.

Special Thanks

I thank all my colleagues from Flickr for their encouragement and for the opportunity they offered me to learn over the years. You are a great community. Allow me to particularly emphasize the work of my Muse Irina Dimulescu, an acquaintance from Flickr and loyal Romanian-American friend, who helped me translate the texts for the English edition. Irina never stopped encouraging and motivating me to write this book while playing the role of the Drill Sergeant! Friendship and generosity have a name: Irina!

The infamous New Zealand Weka - scourge of campers across the islands. They will grab and run off with anything left unattended at a campsite that they can carry, and not just food. I found myself chasing a Weka around my campsite who had apparently decided that anything in a plastic bag on a picnic table must be edible. They had run off with my e-book reader!
