My first attempt at astrophotography! Taken with my E-M10II using Olympus's nifty "live composite" mode, which is a clever feature and makes this kind of shot as simple as possible to execute. It was a clear night, out in the country and without too much light pollution -- close to ideal conditions. But I still wasn't sure how it would turn out. I left the camera going for an hour and have to say I'm pleased with the result. The light trails from passing jets are an unexpected bonus.

After about four weeks of building, my E-1B Tracer is done. It's the last of a collection of aircraft that served with Carrier Air Wing 8 in 1965, aboard USS Forrestal, that I started working on almost two years ago. It's also the weirdest of the lot and the model that I was the most apprehensive about.

Photo shooting with the gorgeous Emily on overcast days that I really love. Shot on Leica Q and Profoto B1 + Profoto OCF beauty dish silver.Hit me up on my e-mail should you wish to use this image. Not the usual street photography shots, or reportage genre that you think Leica is only good for, right? :)

Boy has it been a while! Between work keeping me exhausted, and guns taking up my hobby time and efforts, I've not paid much attention to LEGO for a bit.

I've been working on this one for about a month now (after the untimely death-by-cat of my E-100 and Sd.Kfz. 9), tinkering with it every now and again. Did the final, admittedly exhausting push to the finish line today to get her photo ready.

It's packed with a bunch of features and goodies.

-88 Pak 43 elevates and traverses left right.

-Ammo racks where they are supposed to be. Fits four of the BrickArms 88mm shells on both sides of the fighting compartment (for a total of eight), an another four underneath the floor.

-The engine is where it is supposed to be located underneath the main gun.

-Working travel lock (if you know me, you'll know I have a fetish for working travel locks)

-Opening gates at the rear of the fighting compartment.

-Space for four figs in the fighting compartment, though it's a really tight squeeze to get the gunner in position.

Really glad with some of the techniques I managed to utilize, especially with how I got some areas to fit like they are. The driver's dome was a very surprising fast solution, as I expected it to be a pain to get the slight slope, but maintain the continuity with the rest of the front plate.

Some history for the Nashorn?

The Nashorn was one of a series of interim tank destroyers, with the intent to give much needed mobility to the newly-accepted 8,8cm Panzerabwehrkanone 43. Capable of piercing through the armor of a vast majority of Allied armor, the Pak 43 was one of the most effective purpose-built anti tank guns of the war. This power came at the cost of being one of the heaviest AT guns fielded by any nation. One of the solutions was to place this gun on a heavily modified Panzer IV chassis, which also utilized components from the Panzer III, thus making it "officially" a Panzer III/IV. Not intended to duke it out face to face with other tanks, the Nashorn was only given a very light armor protection scheme. Generally, like other Panzerjaegers, the Nashorn was deployed in an overwatch role, covering an advance or withdrawal from afar. The Nashorn is sometimes credited with achieving the longest range confirmed tank kill of World War Two, at well over 3,000 meters (3 km).

The lighting at this breach always amazes me. Sometimes there is little to no light pollution at all, then sometimes there is loads. There appears to have been a fair bit of LP on this particular night but I kind of like the end result all the same.

All of these light paintings were created inside the disused tower block called 'Cour du Parc' which was a rather terrifying experience!

All of the tubes in my E. H. Scott Allwave 12 Deluxe radio are Arcturus tubes. The tubes that do not have grid caps are of the balloon shape like this one. They also are blue, a feature that Arcturus was known for.

I know that the original owner of the radio was from Woonsocket, RI (have his name and address on the envelope from Scott). This tube confirms that the radio was owned by a Woonsocket man. It was serviced by a local music shop as seen on the tab.

Wikipedia has a nice photo of the 1930 Acremeter tube tester.

This sunset shot was taken on the far side of the waterfall at Mystic Beach.

Unfortunately, the flow of the waterfall was so sparse that it didn't show up on this angle........ but it sure was a beauty of a sunset.

Progress on my E-1 Tracer has been pretty slow, so instead I decided to show something I did a few weeks ago, just after BrickFair.

For my Vietnam models, I decided to go mostly studless. I quite liked the result, so I had a go at removing most of the studs on one of my other models: my PATRIOT launcher as used by the Dutch military with a DAF truck as the prime mover, which I built a few years ago.

Our cat, Michael knocked over a glass of water and it spilled all over my laptop...

For 5 days I've been having problems with my computer. It wont start, when it does.. It wont log onto my wireless network and then automatically just shuts off after 10 minutes.

It's frustrating, I feel so disconnected. Unable to check my E-mail, surf the web or upload any pics into Flickr.

This afternoon I managed to get my computer to work again.

But for how long?

I went ahead and uploaded my pictures from the last few days. So I'm up to date with my 365 days project. You can click back to view them.

But it looks like I'm going to have to start saving up for a new laptop..

This one (named Charlie) has been with me for nearly 3 years.

So If I disappear again, it's due to technical difficulties.

But I'm working on it.

I hope everyone is having a good week.

Lviv, Ukraine, 9.mar.2022 - Freshly trained soldiers give farewell to relatives, girlfriends and wifes as they board a train to the frontline in Dnipro, in the center of the country, this Wednesday 9th. The troops reinforce the defense of the city that in recent days became a target of the russians in an effort to isolate the east of Ukraine (specially Donbass) from the rest of the country

A troubling situation, sometimes the flash doesn't fire in high speed sync.

Olympus OM-D E-M1 MkII and Godox TT350O.

Some times you can take 2 or three shots held held no problem then on the fourth the flash doesn't fire. (No problems on a tripod).

Much experimentation and it seems to be oddly linked to the autofocus, unless the camera has fully locked on then the flash wont fire, but the camera does. Give it half a second longer and the autofocus has settled then all works fine. Works fine every time in manual focus. (The same situation on my E-M5).

Ah Ha found it - I have set the shutter release (both cameras) to "Not wait" for the auto focus but to fire when I press the release. I use this when working "from the hip" in the street for candid shots. I found that all the movement and not knowing exactly where the focus point was meant I was missing shots that would probably have been acceptable. I tend to set things at f5.6 and a 1/400 of a second.

The delights of being able to alter so many settings can lead to a little confusion at times.
