I'd like to propose to any writer who likes this world of fantasy to send me stories, descriptions, tales, fables, etc, so I can illustrate those that move me, and something beautiful might turn out. Who knows: if taken to a publishing house, some might be interested and put it on paper.

Get into it, because this world is so exciting to me that I want to create a little world of fairies, sprites, gnomes and so on with you, a magical world for us.

My e-mail address for you to send your texts is javilyky @ hotmail . com (strip the spaces inbetween to get the real address.)

You can send me drawings and sketches to help with this creativity.

Cheers and looking forward to hearing from you!

Back story: Last week the BBC got in touch and asked me if we could meet up so they could film a short news piece about my Light Painting. After seeing myself on the News tonight (very surreal, but also pretty special), I just want to say a HUGE THANK YOU to the fantastic BBC for allowing me to reach an audience which would otherwise be uncontactable.

The camera-woman and I agreed that we had not enjoyed a good roll of the dice, as it was about 3 degrees celcius with a very cold force 6 wind blowing at us throughout the entirety of the shoot. However, we persevered and managed to produce a pretty decent before (interview and discussion about the art of Light Painting) and after (this photo). This photo will always be a very special memory for me.

Thanks again BBC.

I have been wanting to photograph the Magnolia Plantation in the spring when the azalea's are at peak for many years. This year was the year we decided to make the drive to Charleston SC. I have to say a big thank you to the folks at Magnolia for replying to my e-mails and being so kind to us during our visit.

About an hour before I took this photo we were at the famed "Ave" where a lot of the awesome azalea flower photos are taken. When I was there waiting for my turn at the avenue, the lighting took a turn for the worse and I was listening to a workshop leader talk about how in all her years of shooting she has never seen the peacock in that area, but she did the week before.

I decided to leave that area and return when the lighting was better and it was less crowded. I wondered around for a bit and finally made my back to the "Avenue" and made the photo I had been waiting almost 12 years to make.

After I was done and really happy to have finally made the image I had in my mind, I was startled by the peacock when it called just a few feet behind me...... LOL almost pooped my pants. So I walked down the road little ways and put on my telephoto lens and waited for the peacock to come in to view... CLICK!!

Rode my E-bike over to Zoo Knoxville to walk around and see some different animals I didn't see on my last visit. I brought the Rokinon 12mm f2 wide angle and the Sony 18-135mm f3.5-5.6 OSS. I also recorded some video with the Xiaomi Yi action camera. And I got photos and videos with my Apple iPhone. I rode back home and logged just under 10 miles.

After winter storm Gia, I was getting a little tired of sitting around the house. It was another central Illinois gray, overcast day, but I decided to do something a little different and set out to Lake of the Woods forest Preserve near my home in Mahomet, Illinois to tromp around in 8 inches of snow and make a few photos.

Normally, I shoot RAW and spend a bit of time post processing all of my images, but today I set up my E-M1ii to Monochrome, upped the sharpness to +2, contrast to +2, selected the red filter and headed out to make some black and white jpg photos. This photo is straight out of camera except for the crop and a bit of sharpening.

My first cross-process (not counting motion picture film in C41...) and it was actually by accident, as I was going to process this Rollei CR200 (a film that I guess is kind of famous to cross-process, ironically!) like I do all slide films, in E-6 of course.

However, I had mistakenly placed this roll of Rollei CR200 in my bag of C41 films waiting for development, not my E-6 bag, and I didn't notice when I did development!

Having never done cross-processing before, I was horrified when this blue/purple film appeared when I opened the development tank, thinking something had gone completely wrong, but...even though I was sort of anti-xpro before, I must admit this is actually kind of neat (even though the photos aren't that great...) I will definitely do this thing again in the future, this time with actual intent!

I went to Yodobashi Camera Umeda with Roger the other day and couldn't resist picking up the SLR Magic 26mm f/1.4 Toy Lens for my E-M5 and trusty, old E-P1. Got blurry corners? Check. Got blurry everywhere? Check. Got fairly terrible chromatic aberration? Check. Vignette much? Check. How about some optical distortion? Check on that too! Really, it's a pretty terrible little lens, but it's sooo much fun to use! Mino-shi, Osaka. February 21, 2013.

Here are some photos and a short video from the Rainmaker Nature Park in Costa Rica. I don't know why I mostly took landscape photos with my phone on this hike. I could have taken them with my e-m1x that I had out and ready with 12-100 lens so I don't know what I was thinking. Fortunately the photos from the Samsung Galaxy S20 Ultra aren't too bad.

This very handsome male Brambling showed up in my E.Sussex garden. The first one I`ve seen this birding season. 23-03-25

I have been in Norway all of 2hrs, but the sun was setting & I needed my first images in the can. I headed to Ersfjord, not really knowing what I was going to find. I could see the sky catching fire & I became desperate. I managed to find this composition, which is ok & I am fairly happy with the final result. I can't help but feel something more magical should have come from this location & that sunset.

Grip cover on my E-M10-II completely disintegrated at the end of last photo walk. After almost 10 years of use (bought january 2016). I already had a spare part in cart, but ultimately I said myself: "No, you dumb. You have a sheet of leather in the shelf. Make yourself a special edition." Olympus made 3500 in leather-like plastic in 2016, now I got mine in real leather.

Almhöjden at Skogskyrkogården. Also known as the meditation hill. From the top of the hill, you can walk the 888-meter-long Seven Springs Way down to a chapel. Everything at this World Heritage Site was designed by two young architects a century ago. It was a bit icy on the stairs, so I walked on the grass.

Just one more of the .jpegs from my first experiments with the new E-M1X body last night, this one from Snowden, Montana as dusk descends. This is with my old kit 40-150mm 4/3 lens and saved only as a .jpeg in the body, so there wasn't much I could do about the standard noise reduction that was still turned on in the camera. It's cell phone quality, at best, but these settings have been found and corrected for shooting more today. The menus in this body are extensive and very versatile (I would expect no less), so now it is simply a matter of studying and learning a new tool. My primary goal last night was to test the performance of higher ISO's, test the autofocus speed and accuracy (the difference between my old E-510 and the E-M1X is night and day, of course) and see how well the auto white balance works, as well (just out of curiosity, for I usually set this manually anyway).

Yes, this body is a brick compared to my E-510 but I knew this beforehand and haven't any complaints (ask me after I go hiking into the backcountry, though lol). Not everyone is happy with the EVF but it IS larger than my E-510's and I can actually use it easily in conjunction with my eyeglasses. So long as I obtain predictable results in my images, that is what counts most. Future investments will be the pro-grade 40-150 (to replace this old FT kit lens) and their 300mm glass that should cover some of my wildlife images in far better performance.

Today's goal? Theodore Roosevelt National Park and shooting .raw files (I haven't shot or saved .jpegs in years, so last night was frustrating when I realized my error) in the high res mode, amongst other things. I might even shoot the Empire Builder if I get back into town sufficiently early. We'll see! :)

It feels like an absolute age since the last time I uploaded anything onto flickr...

This year has been incredibly busy for me so far but that is not to say I have not kept my photography alive. I am currently working on a very exciting project called 'Memory Tower' and I could not resist uploading one of the shots from the project just to show that I am still out there spinning lights around! :O) I hope all you flickr friends are on fine form and doing well out there. I promise to be on here more often soon.

I hope to be able to tell you more about this particular project soon but for now a few things need to happen before I can reveal any specific details. Fingers crossed!
