Normally the 85mm portrait lens is unusual for making landscape photo. But with creativity and technology can we create awesome thing with the unusual thing.

Northern Flicker (Yellow-Shafted) dad coming in for the landing at the nest to feed his son!

Three images composited to show the graceful approach and landing of this rather large bird of the woodpecker family. Interesting that 1/3200 wasn't nearly enough to freeze the wing motion.

Colaptes auratus at the Morton Arboretum

I'm posting this to the A Lifeline group as a "cycle of life" work. Father to son, and perhaps, in the future, the son will build a nest in this same spot, and also raise a family.

I decided to go down to Lister Park in Bradford to have a wander and see if there were any autumn colours left. Took a walk around the lake and was nice to see not only some colours but the sun catching them nicely. So i shot this as a multishot panorama and stitched together

Paragliders take off for slope soaring over Zar mountain in Poland.

Handheld night panorama.

Just happened on this by chance and took a series of panoramas from different vantage points around the Plaza. This was by far the best, just wish I had a tripod with me at the time and another 20m or so.

If you look hard enough you might see my son hiding in the image somewhere with his black backpack on. By some miracle, I managed to avoid any of the other bystanders in the final composition.

This is a multishot panorama... I originally stitched it with ICE and PS... this was done using Lightroom CC and I'm putting it up to compare... the other one had a line in the sky... this one is pretty smooth, but there were some issues with the black slider in Lightroom CC

The main attraction of Isola Capo Rizzuto (Calabria, Italy) is the powerful 16th-century fortification in the district of Le Castella, which stands on piece of land connected to the mainland by a narrow causeway. Here is taken on a milky way background, in an (hard to realize since the castle is actually much more ligthen than the sky) hdr multishot.

This is a multishot pano and it's huge. :)

That's Lion's Head in the middle and the Twelve Apostles hotel on the right. I came ridiculously close to death on the road near the hotel about a year and a half ago. Maybe I'll write that story here one day.

In this multishot pano its raining on the left snowing in the middle and sunny on the right, typical of the weather we experienced in the fabulous Faroe Islands. Visit loveoflandscape.com for more photos, video.loveoflandscape.com for videos or follow me on facebook www.facebook.com/cnewhamphoto

A multishot Pano of a gorgeous day out at the seaside.

This is my first astro pano :)

It consists of 18 portrait orientated photos, 9 at the bottom and 9 at the top. I used PTGui to stitch the photos together, it wasn't a fully automated process as I was asked to assign control points to several of the photos but it was a painless process nonetheless and I would definitely recommend this program.

This particular shot was something I had planned on prior to my trip. I had read a few tutorials and away I went. I'm glad all the shots fit together, I was worried that I mucked up a couple. The pano itself stretches about 160 degrees, almost going all the way from east to west.

Hand held six shot vertorama with three on the top and three on the bottom. Made for some tough stitching. Larger

Handheld panorama in this beautiful plaza in Salamanca. I tried several locations and this seemed to work best.

For a jumping spider, she sure did a lot of running! That upper right pose was her charging across my table.

I didn't make any of these this year, but as I perused my files for some good ones to post, I found too many poses to pick from, so here you go. This one doesn't get my normal ID label because I don't yet know what it is, but if I find out, I'll put it below. I spent about an hour and a half on this one today. The bottom pose is a focus stack of three shots when she finally stopped running. Click to see more detail.

Any perceived over-hang between the three shots as I merged them together is purely coincidental.

Multi-shot. Edit heart-shaped leaves.

Sunset in late June over Clunemore and Drumnadrochit.

Taken as a multishot panorama (5 shots across x 3 rows) using a DJI Mavic 2 Pro, stitched in Lightroom to create a single large panorama.

Out in the woods today. I wasn't going to go to the woods as the sun came out and taking autumn shots in bright sun is a nightmare at best. However it clouded over which was good.

Inspired by a similar photo taken by the great Joe Cornish I shot this as a multishot panorama. I tried it in landscape but just didnt work, I wanted the flow of the water with the background autumn trees. I'm fairly happy with it anyway.

My current favourite spot less than an hour from home in Sydney when the milky way is setting ie with a westerly aspect. At the end of the season, it is nearly horizontal and in this case the setting moons was under it. Even with the less-than-perfect black sky and the moon glow, the way way was detailed....

Very peaceful!

Multishot, vertical pano stitched in PS. Milky way edited in LR. Same exposure for foreground and sky ie single shot.

Down at Salford Quays. Multi layered joiner.

Refreshment for your soul can be found in a forest reflected in the mirror like surface of a high mountain pond. A warm summer breeze blew through the deep wooded forest just barely disrupting the reflection of Dana Peak and Mt. Gibbs as they rose high above the treetops. Clouds rolled gently over the peaks occasionally blocking the bright afternoon sunlight that filled the Sierra Nevada with magic. You can recharge your soul here and you'll be surprised just how little it takes to lift your spirit.

The Shogun is back on the scene and the Shogun was in the Empire of the Sun. The famous Chureito Pagoda shot with the 3776m high Mt. Fuji in the back. The shot had to be taken. I shot it.

The vulcano is covered in clouds or fog 3/4 of the year I was told. I was there on Wednesday the 6th and Thursday the 7th of November and the weather was all clear and blue. Luck? Well the entire holiday the weather was perfect, so somebody took care of me.

To get here, there is a free parking on ground level. You have to climb some stairs. I was there earlier at noon and light was hard but I thought: "I will get back at sunset for some better light and contrast." Sunset was 16:45 hours. I walked up at 16:00 hours and people were coming down the stairs. WTF are you people doing? The show is about to start! Loco-in-el-coco. It was packed! You are not allowed to bring your tripod on the observation platform. But some guys were next to the platform with their Mountaineer's and their grad filters. This is a 5 frame multishot exposure blended, handheld. More compression on Mt. Fuji would have been better but than I would loose the branches on top. This is what I got and I like it. youtu.be/VypT0m4xcgE?t=37

Get some vanilla-matcha soft serve on ground level. That stuff is delicious and will make climbing the steps a bit more bearable.

Multishot panorama of the Bixby Bridge stitched in the Lightroom. I will prefer an evening or early morning shot but couldn't plan the trip that way. May be next time.

The situation on this photo was very Hard ..... The circuit was open .. I did take my place inside the circuit & sat down on my knees, put my eyes to the camera's View Finder waiting for the Knights ..

Did not properly estimate the time and the speed of the hourses ...

began to hear voice of horses hooves approaching me .. When i removed my eye from the view finder of the camera, I noticed that it was too late and the knights were very close to me ... now i had two choices: either to stand or to escape .. But this knight Shout and said to me ... DON'T MOVE ... I sat down on my knees Again, hold the Multishots shutter button and Waiting for my destiny ,, they passed me Safley, there was another hourse passed behind me ... it Was the most dangerous situations in my Photography life :-)
