Mudroom. Door leads to three-car garage. Door on the right is the laundry room. Not a huge laundry room, but still plenty of storage. Not as long as yours but wider.

This is actually two pictures cut-and-pasted together, but you get the picture.

Shaker-style pegboard in the mudrooms.

Mudroom updated. Stock cabinets from Lowes, counter tops made from wood bought from a closing Crate and Barrel for $5 and painted, coat hook area made from pieces found in the odds and ends bin.

Mudroom, not original to the house. The landing with the pantry is through the doorway on the left, and the kitchen is just beyond that.

From kitchen looking into pantry, half bath, mudroom

Side door and storage. Will be ripped out to put in a decon's bench

mudroom and laundry

Mudroom. Garage door to left, main floor laundry at the end of this hall.

pretty dorky, but I did it anyway

Like most houses the "main" entrance isn't the one out front. The add-on mudroom holds all the modern amenities that weren't around when this place was built in 1900: washer, dryer, hot water.

so i had thought that maybe that color could be the whole room.. but nope one wall is enough... the rest of the room which is just primed right now will be painted in a light subtle color eventually.

seat for putting on your shoes

Plenty of room in here for a large family's *stuff*: hats, coats, snow boots, muck boots, etc. It is a walk-in closet with rods (both low and high) and shelves (both low and high) to accommodate the whole family. This closet is directly inside the back door. We have a few of those awesome commercial entry rugs just inside the door, and inside this closet. They make it so easy to keep things clean!
