City reflection, Arendal. Norway

With empties bound for Hutchinson on the Rum Creek Subdivision, mine run R211 is reflected in a mud puddle as it trundles along the Logan Subdivision at McConnell, West Virginia, March 26, 2022.

Spring ice is a lot of fun to photograph, and I recently spent an hour in a ditch with tripod and macro lens. This photo, however, is not from that session. As I was loading my gear into the car, I happened to look down. The mud puddles in my driveway had frozen overnight. You don't always have to go far from home for a photo op, and it's always a good idea to look down.

What can I say, Mom?.....there was a puddle....it called me."

Many Thanks for your visits, comments and favs., all welcome, all greatly appreciated. Have a terrific day.

Rock surface near the Petit Jean Lodge shows its swampy syncline origin in the Pennsylvanian period between the Ozark and Ouachita Mountains. The entire mountain is a syncline basin that collects into Cedar Creek. Bailey Lake is the headwater for the waterfall, canyon and into Petit Jean Creek and to the Arkansas River.

This is the Poole house that I photograph often, but this angle has never really worked before until now thankfully due to few common puddles. Upon arriving I almost pulled up the lane like normal. Another trick was to keep my dog from tracking it up too early.

The other day, I discovered this bird wading through a mud puddle and I took a couple of shots of it.

I tried to produce an image with BOTH the bird and its reflection, but it didn't turn out the way that I wanted.

So.... I cropped out the bird except for its lower legs ( BYE BYE BIRDIE ) and ended up with just its reflection.

I tweaked it a bit too.

We were in a drought situation for a while, then it started to rain, then snow and it got warm and melted.

Finally some good rains in our area. Enough for the creeks and the Nueces River to rise a bit. I’m not sure it qualifies as a drought breaker but it is very beneficial. And it made for satisfying mud puddles that the grandkids enjoyed.

Took this while waiting for Orbitgal to show up for one of our photo walks. (Turns out I was waiting in the wrong spot!)

Can you believe this film is over 30 years old?

This can't be Trina's photostream. O.O

Where's the ocean? The sunset? The beach? The palm trees?

This is probably the exact opposite of my usual subject matter. But I thought I should shake it up around here {'here' as in my photostream}! I dug around in my archives and found this photo. I had this image earmarked for Sliders Sunday, but never got around to uploading it.

I have a lot of images like that, don't you?

So ... I slid this into a sepia toned image, and painted back in some color. I know how lots of folks dread the 'selective color' treatment, but I kinda like it here. That is probably why I never posted this 'experiment!'

Happy Sliders Sunday!!

Reconstituted glacial silt.

And to think that I took a shower before going out to shoot. As nasty as this is, I had a blast. More in comments. (If you're doing something like this, you might as well get extra shots, right?)

Lots of trees have been cut down on the main track @ Fermyn wood. The machinery has left ruts in the soft soil, still filled with some water in spite of the dry weather. This mixture of white butterflies were taking advantage as water was short everywhere else in the wood. Reminded me of the scenes we see on TV of the butterflies in tropical rain forests

The snow melted and left huge muddy puddles.

The horse wasn't so cooperative.

Abandoned Abused Street Dogs.

Little Stubby has crossed the line and gone

completely Bazerko ! Rocky isn't amused !

In reality this takes place right after they all

were running in the sticky, stinky swamp mud.

Furthermore, in my opinion, Little Stubby has

a crush on Mr Rocky. I've always felt that but

Rocky has a thing going on with the cute little

blond that lives next door....;-)~

This morning my mind said lets go out and see

the temple dogs. They need their monthly meds.

Problem being --

My body said, "Don't even Think About It !"

Tomorrow's another day, we'll see what happens.

Thank you for your donations and comments......

The dogs never stop eating and needing meds.

Their care is an on going endeavor in order to

give them as healthy a life as possible.

Please help with their care ..;-)

03~2009~IMG_0739 - Photochallenge.org's 2009 daily challenge #68, Vegetable.

Havn't you ever wondered what it would look like to drop a radish into a mudpuddle? No? Well me either really but for some reason that's what today's challenge lead me to do.

Perhaps in part, because at $1.69, a bag of radishes was the cheapest vegetable I could buy at Topps.

Perhaps in part because mud puddles are a plentiful resource in Rochester these days.

But somehow back in the recesses of my brain these idea's melded to make a high speed photograph of a radish being dropped into puddle. Voila.

Poor Frank, facedown again.

No way around. No winch anchors. No guts, no glory!

The abstract beauty of a mud puddle, teeming with life after a month long atmospheric river, is too irrestistable to a photographer eager to play in the mud.
