At least there's a dusting of snow here now. I took practically the same photo just a couple of weeks earlier that didn't look at all like winter.

with the DP2 Merrill; one of like three photos I took that turned out, they're not joking about it being "digital slide film." the level of detail though is beyond belief!

All over southern Arizona one can find fascinating rock formations. Mt Lemmon was my first taste of what was yet to come.
Thunder is so very loud at 9000 feet! (Perla's new word is "scared" -- which she says with a smile and giggle when she really means "excited.")
Man caused Burro Fire lead to mandatory evacuations near Tucson, Arizona in the Mt. Lemmon area. The fire was reported June 30 on the southeast side of Mt. Lemmon in the foothills of Redington Pass and as of 8:30 p.m. MDT on Sunday had spread for six miles to within a mile of the Mt. Lemmon Highway. At that time it had burned about 11,300 acres according to an overnight mapping flight, which is an increase of over 6,000 acres from the last estimate. Monday morning the Incident Management Team estimated it had grown to 14,000 acres which eventually was fully contained at 27,000 acres eventually.

Our first outing was a causal drive up Mount Lemmon, stopping at many if not most of the scenic overlooks. Enjoy the trip up and down the mountian.
Mt Lemmon's Ski Valley bills itself as the southernmost ski area in the continental US (I think a place in New Mexico makes the same claim).
This view has been common in the 2017-18 winter. Unfortunately, when the mountain is covered with snow & skiing is good, the road to the ski area is often closed!
Second day at Lemmon. First day we didn't want to wait 6 hours for the road to open up the mountain.
