We took a quick trip to Banff today. I've never actually been to the Vermillion Lakes, and the view is everything they say it is. Mt. Rundle is a sight to behold. This is a pretty average shot of this beautiful place, but what would I expect shooting here in the middle of the afternoon? One day I'll try to get up early enough to see sunrise here. The operative word is try. I'm not a morning person.
Naples...
Day trip tour from Rome to Mt. Vesuvius and Pompeii, about a 3 hour drive w/ the obligatory stop at the tacky tourist shop/cafe. The first part is to go to the top of Mt. Vesuvius (weather permitting, it's also closed for the winter). We got lucky, while cold and very windy, there weren't any clouds. Our guide told us he had been there the prior weekend; it was very warm without a breeze and you couldn't see into the crater.
The full-size coach bus takes you up a pretty tight road (lots of switchbacks) and deposits you about a 20-min walk from the top. The walk is pretty steep and it takes another 10-15 mins to get to the very top of the rim (farthest from the parking lot).
After Vesuvius we headed down to the outskirts of Naples where we had 'authentic' Neapolitan pizza at a restaurant. Not bad, but not the real thing either. Then it was on to Pompeii.

Depuis un certain temps maintenant, les jours s'écoules à une vitesse foudroyantes! Je m'entent répéter sans cesse : " ça commence à être vrai, ça s'en vient là . " La péripétie est débuté depuis quelques jours déjà et je me lève en regardant par le fenêtre de notre " Dream Bungalow " ayant pour vu le Mt. Yasur. Machinalement, je répète de nouveau cette phrase qui avait jusqu'à présent été réservé au sol Canadien. J'étais totalement convaincu qu'avec plus de 15 000 Km parcouru et un décalage horaire de quinze heures que cette formule ne serais plus utiliser du voyage, mais je m'étais encore une fois tromper. Notre voyage étant basé principalement pour observé ce volcan, notre journée est planifier au quart de tour depuis bien longtemps. Visite d'un petit village, d'une chute dans la jungle et coucher de soleil sur le fameux volcan. L'heure du grand départ à enfin sonner, mon acolyte me dit: " Quand t'habite à Tanna, faut pas que ton truck casse, le garagiste du coin est loin en prête . "
Extrait du journal de bord: " … Comme tout bon plan n'est jamais infaillible, le transport de 08:00 tant attendu ne se présentera seulement après-diner. Se sera un mal pour un bien, car nous allons condenser toute les activités en Pm et par le fait même sauvé un aller/retour dans une boite de " Pick-up ". Comme le prévoyait le plant "B" nous partons après le dîner pour la petite visite du village d'Etape. C'est un petit bled aux les habitants y vivent au rythme des coutumes ancestrales…. À la fille indienne, un petit groupe de danseurs entame un hymne antique en frappant des mains et débute une lente procession en passant par un passage taillé à même le tronc d'un arbre géant pour finalement se retrouvé devant nous deux… Le lendemain matin en route pour l'aéroport, nous croiseront le propriétaire du vieux "Tac" qui devait venir nous chercher hier matin, le capot ouvert, s'acharnant à changer des pièces du moteur.
Le reste de la journée sera surprennament très bien organiser et le planning respecté. Pour ce qui est du volcan, faites vous votre propre idée par vous même. émoticône smile
Je me coucherai le soir venu en ayant un fort sentiment de bonheur indescriptible et un sourire gravé sur mon visage. Prochaine destination l'île de Santo, j'ai bien hâte de voir ça. émoticône smile

Mt Snowdon in all of its misty glory, summit on the far leftand when viewed large you can see the people walking to the summit :) but i don't like that flickr over sharpened it :(
This was our only view of Mt. Katahdin. Every where else that you could see it, there were darn clouds in the way! From here we wer 30 miles away as the crow flies, but still had 80 more trail miles left.
Yesterday I took a trip to Mt Edgecumbe to shoot the bouquet;s and wreath for a wedding for Shelley of www.allsortsofnice.co.uk. It was a great oportunity for some product work and the flowers were beautiful. i'm very pleased with the results!
