This day trip takes you to the summit of Mount Titlis with ease. One of the many highlights will be your thrilling 45 minute ride aboard the ROTAIR revolving cable-car. The summit station at 3,020 meters (10,000 feet) has snow and ice all year round. Think: snowball-fights in a Winter paradise anytime you like! You can also visit the Ice Grotto, IceFlyer, relax in the sun terrace. For the more adventurous... go sledging! What is sledging? It is sliding down the snow runs with large rubber tyres. It's fun. It's LOTS of fun. Go! Go! Go!

Mt. Spurr, 11,070 feet tall, is about 53 miles northwest of where I was when this photo was taken. Mt. Spurr last erupted in 1992 - early evening as I recall. It was surreal watching the ash cloud climb, spread out and then blanket Anchorage.
Anyway, visible are 2 of the 16 offshore derricks working the region for oil and gas.

A double rainbow seems to end in the nearby gulch, so very close! Alexander's dark band is clearly seen between the primary and secondary bows. Also, supernumerary bands are seen inside the primary bow. The hillside beyond the rainbow is covered with Garry oak, also known as Oregon white oak. Here in this light, and before spring foliage, they do indeed appear white. Seen along Mt Diablo’s North Gate Road, at about the 1100-ft level. Mount Diablo State Park, California.

1361. Photo by Jeff Bernards. Photo: Lost Lake Camp ground. Mt. Hood Bike Camping trip organzied by Jeff Bernards. Who knew I could make it up to Lost Lake on my 10 speed Puch! Thanks for everyone who encouraged me to go on this challenging but fun trip in August 2006. Matt & I rode two days to Lost Lake, stayed an extra day, then biked home via Hood River and the Columbia Gorge (70 some miles in one day on and off the interstate to Troutdale). The others headed around Mt. Hood on a loop. The highlights: Training on Mt. Tabor with Tresa, Huge pancake breakfast, The Lost Lake - googly eye- Tribe, Swimming at Lost Lake, Finishing the ride, and the awesomeness of camping by bike. The Lows: Dat's crash (and no Bar Dat), and the last 6 miles up to Lost Lake in the blazing sun. It was tough!
