Only 30% of visitors to Alaska actually see this mountain. It has its own weather system and is often surrounded by clouds. It appears for us on our first day and is not seen again during our visit. It is almost like magic how one minute it wasn't there and then suddenly it was, then just as quickly gone again.
I smoke a Peruvian medicinal tobacco cigar, called a mapacho, to celebrate making it to the base of the world’s highest mountain.
Mapachos are used in Amazonian ayahuasca celebrations. It was only fitting that an instrument of the highest sacred astral realm—a mapacho—should be enjoyed at the foot of the highest physical peak on our planet.
