The last from April's mouse shoot.
Harvest Mouse was so named because they inhabit arable fields where they love to feed on cereal grains. This is a captive individual but when I let him climb onto a wheat stalk he immediately extracted a grain and polished it off there and then. Modern combine harvesters cannot be good news for Harvest Mice but "Beetle Banks" have given them a surprise lifeline. These were banks of tall, uncut vegetation between cereal fields intended to harbour beneficial predatory insects that feed on arable pests. But because they are never cut, the tall vegetation is the perfect place for Harvest Mouse nests. A study in Leicestershire in 1998 found that beetle banks held 117 nests per hectare compared with just 14 nests per hectare of hedgerows.
Welcome to the world of Mouse Guard, the graphic novel, comic and role playing game by David Petersen. These great stories follow the adventures of Lieam, Saxon and Kenzie. Three of the Guards finest guards mice. Their duty is to act as guides and guardians to the common mice living in all the out lying villages. They face many dangers in their adventures and never back down when challenged by a predator.
This Lego model was inspired by the book "Fall" and took 6 weeks to complete. It was debuted at Brickcon 2014 in Seattle where it won the "Best Art" and "Best in Show" awards. Seattle's ArchLUG will be presenting more classic Mouse Guard LEGO creations in 2015 at Emerald City ComicCon.
With lock down in force the garden is the only place to go, so a few nights baiting a stick with peanut butter and last night putting a hazelnut in place managed to get this one shot before it ran off with the nut. several nights prep and a bit of luck. Two flashes used and a small led to light subject. Own garden, West Dorset.
Mouse: Linus wake up ! Linus ! LINUS !!!
Linus: What ... do ... you ... want ?!!!
Mouse: I have to tell you a story.
Linus: No !
Mouse: What do you mean, no ? It's important !
Linus: I have enough of your stories and I'm sleeping.
Mouse: How come you are talking if you are asleep ?
Linus: I always talk in my sleep, ask mom !
Mouse: So you listen to my story now ?
Linus: NO ! I need my sleep to recharge my batteries !
Mouse: To do what ?
Linus: Hunt pesky mice, for instance !
Mouse: You haven't caught any mouse in months.
Linus: I could catch one if I wanted to. I could catch YOU !
Mouse: I don't think so.
Linus: And why ? I'm a cat after all !
Mouse: Yes, but you are specialised on THE BIRDS. Mice are different, we are smarter.
Linus: I wouldn't tempt fate if I were you. Cats are quite smart too.
Mouse: Cats in general, maybe, but you .....
Linus: That's enough ! You better sneak off now before I forget that I'm specialised on birds !
There is another capture in the comments. :)
Heh. Miss Mousie was kind enough to pause for a few moments to let me photograph her(or him) before disappearing into the woods.
Shopaholic mouse is a very tired mouse after shopping. This is a fantasy creature and fabulous situation.
I went to check the feeders after work, nothing there at first then this Mouse sped up the tree trunk to the feeder for a nibble.
Apodemus sylvaticus
Was trying to catch some Wrens near our wood pile today but instead found someone else who likes wood piles.
Differentiated from House Mouse by brown tan colour on top and white underneath. Head is more curved. Also larger eyes and bigger hind feet.
I made this last night and it was quite fiddly working with linen fabric. I am quite happy with the result.
This tiny little mouse is only slightly bigger than the slice of fruit it is nibbling at…. Very very cute at Basel Zoo, Switzerland.

This is Cheesers the mouse.
I was just fooling around with some pieces and came up with him. I'm especially happy with how the head turned out. :)
Be sure to check out the Brickshelf gallery.
From a bicoloured square of kraft paper.
Trying some colour changes in my mouse.

Mouse-ears_Cerastium
Cerastium is a genus of annual, winter annual, or perennial flowering plants belonging to the family Caryophyllaceae. They are commonly called mouse-ears or mouse-ear chickweeds. There are 214 accepted species,[1][2] found nearly worldwide but with the greatest concentration in the northern temperate regions. A number of the species are common weeds in fields and on disturbed ground.
Cerastium uniflorum
Cerastium tolucense
Cerastium species are used as food plants by the larvae of some Lepidoptera species including Coleophora chalcogrammella (which feeds exclusively on Cerastium arvense) and Coleophora striatipennella (which has been recorded on Cerastium fontanum).

How many dogs do you know would crawl through a hole in a tree just because you asked them to. Some but I don't think many.
And now something a little different.
I do not know terribly much about the Mouse Guards, one pictured here, I just think they look nice. I have seen Shelly post about them, I also know there was a movie in the works at some point but it ran into problems and I don’t think it’s on anymore.
I saw a Getcrazybricks Kickstarter thing about these a while ago and decided to support enough to get at least one figure just to see how they’re like. It arrived a few days ago and it looked great!
Due to the nature of these figures I went for exceptionally heavy editing with the colours. It’s a mouse with cape, shield and a sword, no need for strict realism here exactly.
This is obviously not an official Lego product but rather something that is compatible with the brick. Nevertheless, I'm treating it as Lego. It just shows how versatile the Danish toy is.
I was fortunate enough to have a whole day at the British Wildlife Center in Lingfield - What an amazing place!
When I first got Mouse Manor. I had a horrible time pulling off the furry fabric they used for carpeting. I still can't get it all off. Luckily I have the 3rd floor and the 2nd floor far right rooms finished now with wood flooring.
