Maus Castle, which is actually called Thurnberg, was occasionally the favourite residence of the electors of Trier. Archbishop Balduin built the castle between 1353-1388 for the protection of his newly acquired territory. It was one of the most modern and technically most interesting constructions of its time. In around 1370 the counts of Katzenelnbogen built the mighty stronghold Neu-Katzenelnbogen on the adjoining mountain.
Among the local people, the impression arose that the castles spied on themselves like cat and mouse. So both bastions got their nicknames, under which they are known until today. Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend. :-)

But then I got a chance to take this portrait of a wet mouse outside my window 😊

Lafayette, Colorado.....the mouse is actually just a play toy...the traps were set to keep my friend's cats from using this area as their bathroom :-)
This is a photo that I took back in March when I visited the British Wildlife Centre for a photography day
Stopped at the Mouse's Tank area within the Valley of Fire State Park. Beautiful vistas in every direction.
The area is named for an outlaw that used to hide here in the 1980's. Amongst the rocks is a natural basin that fills with water after rainfalls.
One of our Harvest mice peeping out through some old man's beard, they have a great time climbing in this and also love eating the seeds.
OCHNA THOMASIANA

Bird's-eye bushes a name derived from the shape of the drupelet fruit. Ochna thomasiana is native to southeastern Africa. The Ochna thomasiana flowers are yellow. After it flowers, it produces some seeds. The seeds start with a green color and turn black. Sometimes when the seeds fall, it resembles the Disney character "Mickey Mouse."
Ochna thomasiana is widely cultivated as an ornamental garden plant for its yellow flowers an unusual fruits.
This field mouse was enjoying the tiny pieces of peanuts I was tossing to the California Towhees, Spotted Towhees, and the White-crowned Sparrows. Why not? Plenty of peanuts in Chris's backpack!

Caught this young Wood Mouse foraging at the back of my garden. One of a family living in my wood pile.
Trigger (Triggs) our little female Harvest mouse climbing on grasses, she doe's not climb much at the moment, we think she's pregnant by the size of her belly, that or she is way overeating. Own garden, West Dorset.
One of these days I'm going to cross Big Creek and shoot Mouse Creek from the other side of the river, but on this day that water flow was just too strong to even think about it. :) -H3

A mouse raiding the bird feeders in our Cotoneaster hedge. It's getting really cheeky about it, so we are going to have to move the feeders. My daughter has decided it's called Kevin, so I can't put a trap out now !

You can tell the photography bug has bitten again. I upgraded from Photoshop CS2 to CC last September, but even after upgrading the PC in January, I hadn't got round to reacquiring my beloved Silver Efex plug-in.
Well, that was put right today and I now have the rest of the Nik Collection to explore as well. However, the first experiment was to re-edit the first harvest mouse image I posted yesterday, adding a luminous Silver Efex layer just to add some structure.
