Looking south-southwest from Windy Point, low on Mount Lemmon. Tucson, Arizona.
This scene was about fifteen stops wide. Tough I used HDR and five RAW files for this image, this is an accurate representation. Because the desert is very flat to the west, late sunsets illuminate the clouds from the bottom, yielding surrealistic scenes on evenings you are lucky enough to have clouds.
Better large!

This was the first time I have seen one of these Squirrels. Their big tufted ears are beautiful. These photos were taken on Mt Lemmon in Tuscon, AZ.
The Squirrels are also named Abert's Squirrels. They are found in the mountains of Arizona, New Mexico and Southwest Colorado among Ponderosa pine trees.
Scientific name: Sciurus aberti
We had a delightful time driving up Mount Lemmon with the Sky Island adventure app: www.visittucson.org/things-to-do/outdoors/mountains/mount...
It's like listening to someone read all the signs at the overlooks , but while you're driving.
I prefer being outside to being in the car, but Mount Lemmon is huge, and we were only in Tucson for a day. It was awesome to be able to see all the variety along the road and not have to worry about getting off the trail before dark. Instead, we saved our hiking time for the saguaros at Sabina Canyon.

Looking back down on the Tucson valley. This is probably at about 3000 feet.
Pics taken while driving up Mount Lemmon just outside of Tucson. Mount Lemmon is one of the peaks I can see from my balcony: flickr.com/photos/arancidamoeba/2416470070/
