Morning Call is vintage New Orleans, having opened in the French Market in 1870 but squeezed out by urban renewal in 1974. From the outside, other than the old sign over the door, there’s nothing about the Metarie location that suggests it is an important part of New Orleans Culinary history Morning Call Coffee Stand, New Orleans’ “most famous coffee drinking place”, has been serving café au lait and beignets to generations of locals and visitors since 1870. Early morning on day 1 of Giants of Steam 2016 at the Bluebell Railway. Visiting S.D. Holder B12 8572 climbs away from Horsted Keynes with a freight working shrouded in steam, bound for Kingscote.
The skies were amazing on Sunday. Decided to see if I could use it as a background for this pretty Morning Glory.
Some additional morning walk photos. Having a dog that likes to get out early sure helps with getting some nice images to start the day with. It also helps that GOD blesses me with the desire to be an early riser!
"Morning Light" So this is was my second visit to Chrome Hill in the Peak District. Arrived there around 6am and parked up in the tiny village of Earl Sterndale. After a forty minute hike I arrived at the classic composition overlooking Parkhouse Hill and the Upper Dove valley. Along the way I was treated to a shooting star show and the added bonus of having the whole hill to myself. Shame the sky didn't live up to my expectations but I suppose you can't have everything. I think I may have to pay this location a few more visits in the new year. Anyway I hope the shot brings a smile :-)
Using the Exposure triangle I achieved a shot with shallow DoF, perfect lighting, and detailed closeup. Using a faster shutter speed I was able to capture the detail of the flower with the perfect amount of backlight. The aperture was set at f/7.1 but since I used a zoom lens there was a shallow DoF. I also captured lines, a pattern, and contrasting colors.
Fiery light illuminated the early morning skies. The crimson glow lit up the horizon and lasted only a couple of minutes.
A year later, almost to the exact date I shot a very similar looking sunrise few feet from this spot. www.flickr.com/photos/lexpix_/30571837576/in/dateposted-p...
One of these times I was glad I had a camera on me.
As my friend ben was driving, I shot this image through the window sunday morning near salem oregon.
Early morning light diffused by clouds, snow on the trees, and fog coming off the water made for a beautiful scene on this morning. I got up around 7am, thought I was the only one up....until this girl paddled by from down the way.
It was pretty damn cold.....mid to upper 20's I would guess. My fingers were frozen, then she cruises by barefoot on a paddle board. Said that the water was actually warmer than the air, felt great on her feet. Warmer water or not, glad she didn't go down in the middle of the lake.

Believe it or not, the woman is a serious runner.. She was not jogging barefoot. Instead she was running, at speed, and the child was almost keeping up. She stopped for a few seconds, after running toward me, the child caught up and they took off at full speed running back the other way. The woman probably weighs 90-lbs.
Another shot of this magical sunrise in northern Washington. This was on the property of the Eden by the Sea bed and breakfast.
