Week#8 - Still Life.
Mono Monday.
There's something fascinating about the textures of weathered driftwood. Even more so when shadows add to the scene.
Sometimes the birds work with you and drift in just the right formation to make an interesting photo.

This busker was drawing the crowds in Cambridge this morning with his dogs who howled along with him!
Droids find themselves in existential crisis more often than you might think. Self-doubt is universal.

The rosebush outside our front window is in full bloom. It is late September so we are really happy to have the flowers this late in the season.
This variety is yellow/pink and is beautiful. I processed this in mono to capture the gorgeous structure of the flower and not be distracted by the colour that we so often focus on and thereby lose the delicate wonder.

Today the temperature finally nudged above the freezing mark and it brought out the housebound walkers in droves.
It wasn't warm enough to erase winter's handiwork, and the Bronte Marina still looked cold and desolate, but with a week of above freezing temperatures in the forecast, this scene will change quickly.
As I plan to steer my wedding photography towards a 'documentary' style, I found myself looking over old shots. This small set from 2017 (my first wedding gig) show the best man and groom having a smoke and pint before 'they' commit to the deed. Kinda interesting to look over old work sometimes, I think I initially chose only one or two out of these four images but now I think they all make a nice set.
My missus walked pass me as I was working on these in LR, they immediately caught her eye and she said 'wow! very 'Reservoir Dogs' like! 😎

My wife accuses me of taking way too many pictures of birds and wildlife. I do counter that I also take landscapes and grandchildren... In reviewing my Flickr feed, I may have to give in to her. I do prefer to shoot birds and inanimate objects primarily because a bird will never ask you to delete the photo you just took because it makes them look fat.
As such, I thought I would include a human in my photostream. This young man was strolling the grounds of the Royal Botanical Gardens this past weekend, providing a delightful musical accompaniment to the beautiful grounds.
Happy Birthday to me, what a nice present... a Covid test, lucky me...
Special thanks to the testers for permission to shoot this series and put up with occasional accidental beeps when my camera hit the car horn as the swab poked my brain 😷
I wouldn't like to tangle with this lethal weapon.
Not sure what it is called. I take pictures, not notes, unfortunately.

but by who ?
The giant in question is the subject of hyper-realist sculptor Ron Mueck's In Bed. A middle-aged woman lies gazing into the distance. Her expression is one of slight anxiety.
While his work is lifelike, it is not life-size, being either bigger or smaller than the subject. In earlier years he mostly used fibreglass, while recently he has been working with silicone as it allows greater flexibility for shaping body parts and implanting hair.

Nature recycles.
Seeds have to be the ultimate form of recycling don't you think? Grow a plant, then save the seeds and plant them again. Repeat, and repeat, and repeat.
