I always like to visit the SunRise Park on Rt. 2 (called the Mohawk Trail) before the highway really starts climbing up into the high mountains. There is a bronze statue of this Mohawk Indian with arms outstretched as if in worship of the rising sun. There are numerous memorials here left here by various Indian tribes who once populated the New England/New York area -before the Whte Man came and wiped out their way of living close to the earth. I find a certain irony in looking across the highway at a trailer park where the ancestors of this noble Mohawk tribe get by working in crappy jobs in nearby towns or living on government subsidies- a people who once lived in TeePees and hunted and fished for their living. I can really identify with the American Indians and have always felt pretty pissed off at how their land was taken and destroyed. Anyway, around here there is always a tribal gathering of Indian ancestors to re-live their drumming and dancing mid-summer ceremonies.

I cut out the statue and pasted it on top of this cornfield looking eastwards towards Charlemont. I played around a bit with colors and layered the Indian so he looks transparent blended with colors in background. Then I made it all into a crystal ball. I would had liked to had taken this pic at sunrise with the sun rising in the back ground.

A trio of nestling Cattle Egrets call out for a meal while sitting on their nest in Wakodahatchee Wetlands, a manmade wetland in South Florida. Image captured using a Canon 7D and 400mm lens; 1/1000 sec, f/5.6, ISO 400.

This bird landed near us. We noticed it had a mohawk. We took a picture.

First time I have or anyone other then Joe hollick and Mike Waddington has seen this falls with water flowing over it. Its a very lovely falls. I enjoy the upper section the most with the pool. I would be nice to catch this one with this much water going over it during the summer.

Enjoy

Ugly 8$ mac & cheese colored hoodie....

Jack has asked for EONS if he could get a blue mohawk. Today was the day!

The big "thing" is to get feathers in your hair.. Emma Grace got one and Kenzie is getting them on Thursday. Jack was not going to be left out.. so he got 2 tiny ones stuck in his mohawk. I love it. I think he looks like a Native American punk rocker. LOL People often think he is Hawaiian instead of Chinese.

I figure crazy hair is something fun they can do when school is out..
