Happy Monochrome Monday

Happy Monochrome Monday

Made it up to Lower Mohawk Lake as the rain really started. There a fair amount of drops hitting the lake in this capture. The Lower Mohawk Lake (11,861') is located on the Spruce Creek Trail south of Breckenridge. The lakes sit just at and above tree line along the south of Mount Helen in a glacial valley in the Ten Mile Range.

Stitch of two images captured there in the flow for the extra wide close in view of the pretty waterfall there in the glen.

Next time I will prepare my citric acid solution with destilled water to hopefully avoid the white dots...

Mohawk Mountain is a ski area in northwestern CT where I grew up and where I learned how to ski, Mohawk was the first ski area to have artificial snow in the late 1940's. Now 95% of the snow there is artificial. It won't be long before snow making begins. Note in the photo there are two "snow guns" near the bottom of the trail.

Mohawk Falls is the first waterfall along the Ganoga Glen branch of Kitchen Creek. The falls plunge over an initial undercut ledge, and then spread outward across a broad shelf.

I finally made a current trip to one of my favorite waterfall parks here in the eastern United States. Ricketts Glen State Park is a magical place and it was the first time heading here and using my new Sony Camera and the 16/35mm lens. In that past many of my trips were using the 14mm Sigma lens and my Canon 5DM3 that I used for 12 years. Having the 16/35 allowed for more creativity, and the Sony 61MP sensor captured some amazing details.

Each time here is always different with conditions. This time was one of the higher flow times. My last two times in Autumn to this park in the past were lower flow but still very pretty (last time was full of fallen leaves). This time was a mix of fallen leaves and pretty trees, and of course lots of flow.

More to follow from this magical day in the park.

Just back from a four day trip out in the Virginia, West Virginia and Maryland mountains. Downloading tons of photos taken on a fun trip. But here is another taken on my recent trip to Ricketts Glen.
