Nestled within the tranquil embrace of Kings Landing Park, Camp Mohawk once stood as a vibrant haven for African-American youth, a cherished summertime retreat orchestrated by the Baltimore YMCA. Amidst the verdant expanse, rustic cabins provided a cozy respite, while the air crackled with the joyous energy of campfires, swimming, tennis, canoeing, archery, and a symphony of outdoor pursuits.

Of the original cabins that once dotted the landscape, a resilient seven remain, four gracing Camp Cocktown Creek and three standing sentinel at Camp Mohawk Hill. With a steadfast commitment to preserving the camp's rich legacy, meticulous efforts are underway to safeguard the architectural integrity of these enduring structures. Within their walls, timeworn beams bear silent witness to the camp's vibrant past, their surfaces etched with the indelible graffiti of generations of campers, each mark a testament to the enduring spirit of Camp Mohawk.

While I was waiting on my daughter to come out of school, I saw this kid coming out. I guess since they all have to wear the same clothes now, this is another way of expressing your individuality! You go boy!

I was shocked and saddened when Jayson informed me he was getting his mohawk cut off in time for school. So, I needed one last photo of him as our badass camper. Every 9-year-old needs a mohawk.

The Mohawk Summer was actually a bit similar to my own Korphopps Christmas 2009. I was first though, so Wicked Wine (who borrowed Sigtuna brewery for this one) must have copied my recipe. :)
