The electrician came this morning to install outlets for my car and Emily’s press. After taking a quick look around, he determined that it was going to take a lot more work than he’d originally expected. In addition to our breaker box being literally as far from the garage as it possibly could be while staying attached to the house, there’s also no attic access over there. The dude ended up leaving instead of doing the work, and now we’re rescheduled to next week. Bummer!
This afternoon we took the Model X to get a bit of warranty work done. The passenger door has some rattle in it, and one of the falcon doors squeaked a bit when opening. The good folks at Tesla got me all fixed up in a jif! Well, it took an hour or so, but Chet visited with us. We also got to see a legit Model 3! One of the employees there took delivery a week or so ago. The thing is really nice! I didn’t expect it to be as comfy and cool as it was. Now I’m even more likely to try and convince my friends to order one. Sorry in advance, friends! Unfortunately they told me I couldn’t take any pictures of it, otherwise it definitely would have been my photo today.

THE RAREST OF DUESENBERGS
This 1927 Duesenberg Model X Boat-Tail Roadster, a one-off creation built for the 1927 New York Auto Salon, is arguably one of the most significant and influential motorcars ever built in the United States. It is the styling prototype for the Auburn Speedster, which appeared a year later. Its design, both aesthetically and mechanically, was the seed for which enthusiasm grew for the sleek, high-performance automobiles. Launching America’s passion for personal sports cars.
Strictly a show car, this sleek roadster lacks common amenities such as windshield wipers, a convertible top and side windows. This automobile was originally purchased by the Chicago hotel magnate Edwin Kirkeby, who may have seen it at the New York auto show.
Over the decades, this Duesenberg fell into disrepair. It was under the guidance of its donor that it returned to its former glory during a four-year restoration.
This Duesenberg Model X engine has a displacement of 260 cubic-inches and produces 100-horsepower, reaching a top speed of 90 miles-per-hour. The sleek body was constructed by McFarlan, a coachbuilder from Connorsville, Indiana, and supplier of Auburn automotive bodies.

On our way out this morning we tried a little hipster coffee shop called Halcyon. I had high hopes, but the place kinda let me down. I ordered an Americano that came out so hot I couldnât even hold the cup with a cardboard protector on it. From the time I got that drink, I waited for tacos, ate tacos, left, and got to the next town before the thing was even drinkable. Yeesh.
As for the ride home, it was more or less uneventful. We got to stop at the San Marcos supercharger instead of Austin this time. That one is way better since itâs next to some fancy outlet stores. Emily and I ended up impulse-buying ourselves North Face rain jacketsâgotta catch those deals! We also wandered through the West Elm Outlet, which was pretty nice. Luckily we didnât need anything, so as soon as Emily fell out of a dining chair we hit the road again.
We stopped in Aledo to grab Arri and visit with my family a bit. They ended up making us dinner, which was really nice. Now weâre back at home at last! Emily played some Mario and Iâve been learning how to use my Seaboard. SO COOL.
