Some additional detail shots. I'm particularly pleased with how the heat staining on the thrusters came out, this was my first real attempt at it.

I built this 1/48 model fifty-one years ago. A nice model by 1971 standards and it was originally mastered in the 60's.

I was overwhelmed when I saw all the models in Yodobashi, I only bought a tiny suitcase and robot.

I ordered the larger kits on HLJ when we got home.

This Hasegawa 1/32 Sabre has been pushed aside for some 17 years, so I've dusted it off, and repaired the damage it originally sustained which caused its long term storage. I've even found most of the parts, so we'll see how I go with it.

Guillow "Fly-Boy" model aeroplane kit, balsa construction with tissue covering. Ever since I was a child, I've wanted to build a working model aeroplane, and have made two attempts in the past, as a teenager, and later on in my early twenties without ever finishing. So, this time, I was determined to get to the final assembly. Not an especially well-executed build, but a quick tet flight in the garden shows that it flies straight, so I'm satisfied.

I built and painted this one.

The new and amazing Moebius Seaview model kit- this is just out of the box and not yet started

Still in it's undercoat. There's tons of gaps and bad seams but I'm gonna leave them for a quaint, toy vibe. I have a metallic silver paint job in mind...or metallic red would be rad...decisions, decisions...

Thanks to Troy for the cool kit!

When i was a child, i loved to build modelkits of ships and planes. But it was the artwork on the box top, that really excited me. Those artworks werde done by artists like John Steel, Jack Leynnwood or Roy Cross and all those years, they still impress me.

My painting is a homage to all those great artists. It shows the IJN Kaga, a heavy aircraft carrier of the imperial Japanese navy on her last voyage in 1942. At first light, she is heading trough heavy seas of the pacific towards Midway island, where she will meet her fate.

I spend hours and hours of research to get the technical details right, but the most challenge became the waves, which I have overpainted a couple of times until i was satisfied.
