The story behind this old workhorse it was repainted and then they send it off to the Drmo lot and range control picked it up. So it's one of those dozers that's out on the ranges doing maintenance. You know how many times I seen trucks in the drmo lot that were just sent off and refurbished and look beautiful like they looked brand new. And they got brand new trucks and it's like all the money they wasted on refurbishing these deuce and a halfs and other equipment. But the Ole girl gets to stay in service for a little while longer...

"Golden Hind" was a 16th Century English galleon best known for her privateering circumnavigation of the globe between 1577 and 1580, captained by Sir Francis Drake. It was originally known as "Pelican", but was renamed by Drake mid-voyage in 1578, just as it was about to cross the Straight of Magellan, in honour of his patron, Sir Christopher Hatton, whose crest was a golden 'hind' (a female deer). Hatton was one of the principal sponsors of Drake's world voyage.
The picture shows a 1/300 scale miniature model that I built in 1986 based on the simple Airfix plastic model kit, super detailing it with more than 700 metal, wood, thread, paper and plastic scratch-built pieces. The ship model measures about 12x12 cm. I used some pieces of blue cellophane wrap placed in the out of focus foreground to simulate the waves, shining a flashlight on it to create the bokeh.
My apologies for such a cheesy title, but I couldn't resist myself... :-)

Autumn 1941, Eastern Front. Soldier Wilhelm, on a reconnaissance mission, began to feel the cold wind that boded the harshness of the approaching winter... "It will be a hard one", he thought... Wilhelm was afraid he couldn't get back home for Christmas...
In actual fact, the soldier is a 1/35 scale miniature figure (about 1,77 inch. tall) of a German soldier from the early years of World War II, made by the Japanese brand Tamiya, that I assembled and painted in my youth times when scale modeling was my main hobby.
I used a Helios 44M 58mm f/2 Russian classic manual focus lens (M42) mounted on my Sony ILCE-5100; vignetting was achieved straight out of the camera, with an adapter ring provided with aperture diaphragm.
My thanks to my daughter Irene, for helping me to control the camera while I was illuminating Wilhelm with my Mini Maglite flashlight :-)

One of two London Fire Brigade Leyland Cub Control units that I have just completed building and painting. Next to it is my own model of the same vehicle as when new to London transport in 1936. Eight of these were built for LT for use on their Interstation service which ended in 1950, two were sold to the LFB , one as a control unit and one as a personell carrier. The kit is by Fire Brigade Models.
1/48th scale resin kits by Fire Brigade models of a Leyland Cub bus and Volvo fire engine in red undercoat. These kits also have many white metal parts to be added soon. The buses are Leyland Cub chassis with Park Royal bodywork and were built for London transport as a batch of just 8 vehicles used on their Inter Station service and ran in a blue and cream livery and linked all the Mainline terminals in the capital, two were later sold to the LFB and these models are being finished as LFB vehicles as also are the two Volvo fire engines.

Leuk!
