My very good friend Irene gave me this kit when we were at the Troon Lifeboat arrival a couple of weeks back. It is quite fiddly for my aincient fingers but it is finally complete and looks quite presentable.
Got a sub. like you Frigate but mine is non working, for display only. Was going to motorise it for surface use only but it is a bit to small and fiddly for my aging fingers.
A large 3 metre model of the unfortunate Titanic took pride of place at the 2012 Sydney Model Boat Show, on the centenary of her disastrous entry into shipping history.
I've photographed the model boat pond in Central park - actually the called the "Conservatory Water" - before, but I never get tired of doing so. This is the pond from the southeastern corner.
The boat is ready to place on the base.
Notice that the brass railings have been attached (finally!) as well as the mast rigging.
Made from stainless steel, lovely piece of work. Perched on a wall on the way down to Stonehaven beach.
Getting the brass wires back in shape. They had to be completely straightened earlier before I could remove the posts.
Many of these photos from above were taken from the opposite end of the pool and 5 floors up from the top of one of the CMS buildings using the Sony 70-400G.
Kirklees Model Boat Club member Richard Simpson's 1:48 scale replica of 'Enigma', an Envoy class Admiralty tug used during World War Two. Richard's version has an electric motor and a vapour generator. She is pictured on the lake at Wilton Park, Batley. The prototype was one of six built and completed in 1944 by Cochrane of Selby.
Originally constructed by me in 1995, been round the club and now restored once more and fitted with a brushless motor by Salty ole Seadog. We are expecting some very impressive performance with her now.
If you are familiar with my page here, you’ll know that I primarily focus on scale modelling Scottish emergency services and buses. I have wanted to add to this for a while, wishing to add Scottish passenger ships and aircraft to the collection. I have plans, but haven’t bought the kit yet, to do a Loganair Twin Otter or similar. Ideally at some point I’ll have Glasgow Subway train models, to add to my Class 156 & 158 models. I am in the middle of a Eurocopter EC135 repaint into Scottish Air Ambulance livery (statutory - all over yellow, not the Charity service in green)
Pictured is a new arrival which fulfils the ship part of my plan. Bought from that well known online auction site is this 3D printed model of the MV Isle of Mull, which serves the Oban routes for Caledonian MacBrayne. The model is grossly out of scale compared to the rest of my collection, however it was bought with the intent of being background set dressing for Western Scottish and other West Coast bus & coach dioramas.
I am very happy with this model, I hope you enjoy the pictures. Please forgive the very cheap and nasty layout, I just painted sky and hills on cardboard and used a dressing gown as the water!
To keep the tugboat upright on the display base, we decided to make two grooved cleats. The tugboat's keel will fit into the groove.
A Type 45 'Daring class' destroyer remote controlled model built and owned by a fella in the Wallasey Model Boat Club.
