ENGLISH VERSION below

ENGLISH VERSION

Originally developed by Goerz in 1908 in response to a governmental mandate the Fernglas 08, a military Galilean model, is officially introduced as a service glass for squad leaders of the infantry due to a decree of the War Office from August 1909. It is produced in large quantities by German optical companies (see www.flickr.com/photos/franksbinoculars/23428964879) and is utilized even after WW I until the 20s.

This Mod. 08 (Modell 08) example is about the first version of the Fernglas 08. The cross on the washer points to the utilization in the Swiss army as an export model. On the right side next to the washer with the cross there is the number 1518 which likely represents a service number assigned by the Swiss army.

The serial number reads 146811.

Some photos taken during an IRS railtour of the internal network at MOD Longtown, Cumbria on a sunny 14th May 1982.

At one point, our railcar had to give way to the trip freight from Kingmoor hauled by 08911. In the distance is the junction with the former BR freight route which connected Mossband on the WCML to Longtown on the Waverley route.

Example for Sandtrooper Platoon. This is just a quick and dirty MSpaint removal of the Kowakian, I wonder if the same thing could be achieved with a pair of scissors on a real sticker. For those who don't want the nose art.

This is my favorite Marlo flip Barip. The standard Barbie has the "lilac" blonde hair. They are are lovely mod pair.

I like that the lenses make a little spot of light on the floor of the light tent. I was a bit worried I'd start a fire, what with the 300-watt bulb that lights that thing.
