Yay new stuff! I finally got my first mod Francie! Her flip needs to be re set a bit and her lipstick cleaned up but she’s beautiful! I got the two clone outfits from the same seller that I got Francie and the Brocade came from a different seller.

Blogged here.

Using Elizabeth Hartman's mod mosaic method, but, similar to my choice for this month's New Bee on the Block assignment, instead of using colorful scraps with white "tile grout" sashing, I used pieces of Kona Snow with turquoise sashing.

I am a great fan of JK Brickwork's models. One of his most striking creations is their orrery of earth, moon and sun. (See here: jkbrickworks.com/earth-moon-and-sun-orrery#1604). However I tought that an orrery of earth, moon and sun really needs to include the earth's tilt. So I tried to incoroprate a stable earth tilt while staying as close as possible to Jason's model otherwise.

This is the result. It is fully functional and one can observe the different seasons across the year.

I took some inspiration from the orrery model of Ryu Wakimoto (www.youtube.com/watch?v=uv2veEGj0Yk) regarding the use of bevel gears in the tilt mechanism but otherwise chose a very different strategy. While the result might be less smooth and with a greater overall error, it still works fine and I just liked the idea behind it:

The earth tilt adds an additional rotation to the model, increasing the number of rotations across a single axis from 2 to 3. Small turntables however can accomodate only one axle across its hole, allowing for 2 independent rotations in total. So I used the difference between earth and moon rotation and geared it down to the rotation of the moon plus the rotation of the earth tilt (1 per year). A second small turntable is being turned by that rotational speed in the other direction than the moon and thereby establishes a stable tilt axis across the year. This whole mechanism is integrated between the two small turntables.

PS: No, I am not eurocentric at all ;)

Yes, this is a Holga -- plus a lot of trickery. I didn't mean to add the brown gradient, but I liked it, so it stayed. The border is from an old polaroid.

The grass mod is finally finished. Ideal setting is imingrasssize=70 for a sweet spot between density and performance, but go as low as 50 for better coverage or as high as 100 for more performance.

I'll add the link to the download shortly.
