At the Intersection of I-70 and HWY 191 you can see the La Sal Mountains covering the horizon which makes you think you might not be in the desert Southwest and the the Red Rock of Moab comes into view. A wonderful place to explore.
What an incredible sight this was to see. And as the time went on the lighting just kept getting better and better.
It was an amazing sunrise as I drove up the hill on the park road to Arches.

This was one of my more thrilling photographic moments. As the sun was rising our skilled and experienced balloon pilot, shortly after launch, steered us up and over this stunning ridge just north of Moab, Utah.
Hadn't seen the Colorado River in a while. It's in a purdy little canyon on one end of Moab. It's probably still got a bit of the leftovers from Durango's Amazing Technicolor Dream River (TM) still invisibly swirling around in there.

Moab, Utah USA.
Awesome terrain in Utah USA, as snow clouds build over the horizon.
On the outskirts of the town of Moab, this region is surrounded by Arches National Park, Canyonlands, & Deadhorse State Park.
One of my favourite destinations in America.

Not for the faint-hearted. I'm glad I wasn't driving. (Dan Mick was driving, thankfully.) Moab, Utah.

We were in Moab, Utah for the “Rally on the Rocks” off road event. The full moon was rising over the snow capped La Sal Mountains. Pictures of the ROTR coming soon plus some gorgeous scenery! Oh, and the coolest dog at the event.... our Bear.

I have been enjoying the scenery in the Moab area the last few days. It's been a few frustrating days. First, my new laptop crapped out. Got it back after restoring it to the factory settings. Then photoshop disappeared. Had to download another on a trial basis so I could process photos. Adobe wouldn't recognize my serial number?? Caught in the pouring rain yesterday in Arches. My camera got as soaked as I did. It stopped working! Ran and got rice and put my camera and lens in it. Seemed to work and the camera came around. I didn't think about my CF card. Got up at 4:30 am today to shoot Mesa Arch and we had a beautiful sunrise. I got some great shots too. Problem is that when I went to review them again later, my camera said "no image". I knew there were images on the card but all there were was a bunch of freaky streaks. I'm still not sure if the card was damaged from the rain or it was a corrupt card. Bottom line is I lost all my images of Mesa Arch. I'm trying not to cry about it.
We're heading to Monument Valley tomorrow and then on to Page area for a couple of days. Hopefully we'll have more luck getting rooms. There have been few vacancies since east of Denver.
Because this was processed on my laptop, I suggest you view with your monitor at exactly the same angle that I processed it at:-)).
