This is the Market Cross in Cheddar, Somerset, at night. Was the only time I captured it. We stayed in a cottage in a nearby village, but mostly passed through here in the car (so no day time shots of it).
The market cross in Bath Street dates from the 15th century, with the shelter being rebuilt in 1834. It has a central octagonal pier, socket raised on four steps, hexagonal shelter with six arched four-centred arch openings, shallow two stage buttresses at each angle, and embattled parapet. The shaft is crowned by an abacus with figures in niches, probably from the late 19th century although the cross is now missing. Rebuilt by Thomas, Marquis of Bath. It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument (Somerset County No 21) and Grade II* listed building.[30] It was recently restored after being seriously damaged in a road traffic accident.
I joined my colleagues for some billiards yesterday evening. It was great meeting everyone, as I spend my days at home with the son right now.
While I was studying last night @ university. I went to take a washroom break and came back to my study carol to find that my Totoro was gone... My buddy was no longer hanging on my bag... Yep... someone took him away from me :( I mean it doesn't cost very much... but it was a gift from my bro and it holds sentimental value... It makes me sad to see someone do such a thing... I mean come on... stealing a bag chain @ university? Ridiculous... If by some act of God, I find out who took my buddy... They gonna get a knuckle massage, 100% Guaranteed - can keep Totoro if they're not satisfied.
Sooo mind boggling... Anyways whatever... Gotta get back to studying.
Peace.

Mount Jerome Cemetery & Crematorium is situated in Harold's Cross on the south side of Dublin. Since its foundation in 1836, it has witnessed over 300,000 burials. Mount Jerome was established as a non-denominational cemetery but effectively it was an exclusively Protestant cemetery until the 1920s.
I am familiar with the Cemetery as I lived beside it's outer wall for two years (1981/82) and two of my grandparents are buried there. After my grandmother's funeral because the place was really depressing a very old uncle of mine described the graveyard as "an excellent advertisement for cremation" (back then Irish Catholics did not consider cremation an option). It is therefore somewhat ironic that as the result of the opening of a Crematorium in 2000 revenues have recovered and the Cemetery has undergone a reversal of fortune.
Due to the declining burial numbers in the 1970's, the condition of the Cemetery began to deteriorate as revenues fell. In 1984 it was put into voluntary liquidation. By the late 1990's, it had fallen into a serious state of neglect with large swaths of the cemetery covered in overgrowth. When I lived in the area the graves were often vandalised and at night a group of children would steal flowers from the graves in order to re-sell them the next day.
As already mentioned the cemetery was effectively reserved for protestants, especially wealthy ones, and as a result the place is a bit unusual. Many of those buried there were very wealthy and they wanted the world to know how important they had been when alive so they spent a fortune on elaborate memorials listing their virtues with very few references to religious matters or God. The one thing that struck me about the older sections of the cemetery is that there are very few crosses or truly christian symbols but here are many references to ancient Greece and Rome.
One striking feature is the large number columns that appear to be broken. Because the cemetery had been in very poor condition for an extended period I had assumed, when I first noticed them, that they were broken due to wear, general damage or vandalism. However, after further investigation I discovered that a broken column indicates a life cut short, a memorial to the death of someone who died young or in the prime of life, before reaching old age.
The notorious Martin Cahill (1949–1994) (known as "The General") is buried in Mount Jerome. His gravestone has been vandalised on numerous occasions and is currently broken in two with the top half missing. His body has since been removed to an unmarked grave elsewhere in the cemetery.
Some relationships are strong enough to last a lifetime, and it’s not attributed to luck or chance. It’s thanks to continuous efforts from both parties and a desire to be together.

That big empty space right there is where my catalytic converter used to sit. Somebody was kind enough to remove it for me while I was bowling on Sunday night. Yup, just rolled under and cut it out. So I guess I should thank them for cutting down on my gas bill and making my car more full efficient. I could probably get faster track times too. Someone was looking out for me.
I started it up and it sounded like I had a giant hole in my muffler. Little did I know, exhaust wasn't even making it to the muffler. Now my truck sounds like Gravedigger is rolling down the street. Really. I am always amazed at how loud engines are without the muffler. It sounds like the motor is sitting in the passenger seat, buckled up next to me.
I've heard that this kind of theft is sort of the new fad. These converters can either be sold as is or melted down for the metals housed in the cat. Google tells me that mine had good amounts of platinum, other manufacturers even use gold to increase oxidation.
The person(s) who hit me, appear to know exactly what they were doing. Two clean cuts on either side of the flanges and that's it. I drive a truck and it sits higher up than cars. Roll in, cut cut, roll out. That's it. Probably made a couple hundred bucks in seconds, not a bad gig.
If you know someone who is doing this, please punch them in the throat for me.

Today I begin to understand what love must be, if it exists... When we are parted, we each feel the lack of the other half of ourselves. We are incomplete like a book in two volumes of which the first has been lost. That is what I imagine love to be: incompleteness in absence.

After missing the first two days of Texans training camp before agreeing to a five-year, $14 million contract Saturday, outside linebacker Brian Cushing is eager to get on the practice field today with his new teammates.
Cushing, the first-round draft choice from Southern California, is getting $10.435 million in guaranteed money to become the starter on the strong side and help improve a defense that ranked 22nd last season, including 23rd against the run.
“I’m just relieved and excited to have this done,” Cushing said. “I’m ready to play football and help the team win.”
Cushing (6-3, 262) was in Los Angeles when agent Tom Condon reached the agreement with general manager Rick Smith and director of football administration Chris Olsen.
Cushing’s contract could be worth a maximum of $18 million over five years.
In the fifth year of his deal, there’s a clause that could earn him an additional $4 million in an escalator bonus.
Odds are that Cushing’s contract will be extended before he enters the fifth season in 2013.
Smith and Olsen will have all eight of their draft choices under contract when the Texans take the field for the third day of two-a-day drills at their Methodist Training Center.
“It’s very important to have him signed,” coach Gary Kubiak said. “Rick and Chris were up at 3 in the morning trying to get it done. They’ve done a good job.
“Brian’s two days behind now, but he didn’t miss anything we did in the offseason program, so that’s a good thing. He wanted to be here while we were working on the contract, but he couldn’t.”
Rookies who have signed with the Texans report a week early for conditioning and meetings before practicing for the first time with the veterans. Cushing wanted to report with the rookies.
He was working out at Reliant Stadium last week when the Texans had to explain league rules that forced him to leave.
Cushing took what turned out to be a quick trip back to Los Angeles. He returned to Houston on Saturday afternoon.
Texans coaches are excited to get him on the practice field.
“We’re going to put the pads on (Sunday morning), and I know he’s chomping at the bit to get out there,” Kubiak said.
After the Texans used the 15th pick in the first round on Cushing, they inserted him into the starting lineup. He impressed his coaches in the organized team activities and minicamp.
“We like his presence on the ball,” Kubiak said, meaning Cushing has a knack for finding the ball and making plays. “He’s playing over the tight end, and we’re going to ask him to do a great deal. We think he can handle it.
“Brian’s very athletic. He’s physical against the run. He can rush the passer. He can drop into coverage. We brought him here for a reason, and we’re going to put him to work real fast.”
Frank Bush, who is in his first season as defensive coordinator, has to make calls that maximize Cushing’s strengths. The faster Cushing learns, the quicker Bush plans to utilize all his talent.
“We’re going to try to take advantage of all his talent,” Bush said. “Because he’s such a talented kid, there are a lot of things we can do with him.”
The coaches say they think Cushing has everything it takes to become a star at his position.
“Brian can turn and run with the tight end,” Bush said. “He’s big and strong enough to strike them at the line of scrimmage and nullify some of their speed down the field, so we’re comfortable with him in coverage.
“His ability also gives us a chance to be aggressive toward the quarterback. He’s a big guy who’s shown he can get there.”
