The bane of summer, grass burrs are everywhere. In Texas, Oklahoma, and much of the South and plain states, they can be a painful irritant.
They get stuck in the paws of your pets, and can be particularly annoying for those whose dogs have long hair. These are green burrs, but will dry out and fall to the ground. Don't worry looking for them, they will find you. I once sat down to take a close up photo. When finished, I place my hand behind me to gain purchase for standing up...and put my hand right down on a mess of them. I had about six of them to extract.
Some stand up tall on stalks, and some lay flat on the ground. Those that lay flat on the ground cause the biggest problem, as you won't see the until you kneel down, sit down or place your hand on the ground.
