Protest rally called by Mining Dependents at Kranti Circle, KTC Panaji on 19.3.18. Supreme Court stopped all mining activities effective 16.3.18 after cancelling all mining permits. Some of the displays donated to the Alpine Historical Park in Sutton from the area's mining past. The mines around here were for coal and the ruins found in Sutton are from the "state-of-the-art" coal washery built by the Navy in 1921. The construction turned out to be faulty and it was never used more than a few times when the Navy found another coal source in California, abandoning their Sutton project. The washery then burned, but the old concrete arches were never removed.

Mountaintop removal coal mining

i went to the hearst memorial mining building so i could draw it for chip's class.

This old mine building, marked "poison," probably contained dangerous chemicals used in mining operations.

Nevadaville, Co. mining and this is just a portion of mine remints on the mountain side - bout 4000 folks lived in this area at it's peek.

Ruined engine house on the cliffs. The air was full of the cries of seabirds coming up from close to the water - with the bank of mist rolling across the slope it made it a beautiful but oppressive place.

When Marietta Charlotte Mininger, Post was born on October 4, 1898, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, her father, George, was 37 and her mother, Mabel, was 31. She married Elias Bechtel Mininger on August 17, 1924. They had seven children during their marriage. She died on April 14, 1943, in Winton, California, at the age of 44, and was buried there.
