In the end, the clearest image of the mine we saw was a poster nailed to a wall in the primary school. The school has been renovated by Paladin Africa as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme.
āI wouldnāt see it as a bad contractā, Charles Kaphwiyo, Director of Malawiās Department of Mines, said of the controversial 2006 agreement between his government and Paladin Africa, ābut there are areas for improvement.ā Several NGOs, media outlets and even civil servants have criticised the government for failing to broker a better deal for Malawians with Kayelekera mine. āThere are some things that we as government didnāt know that we accepted in the contract. Weekly mining op for ice. In the picture the operation is just starting up. Two basilisks are in the background of picture 2 tanking the remaining rat in the ice-field. Panicked about a threat to my precious Orca I warp off to a safespot in short order, with the others laughing hard in the fleet chat when the raven fails to break the two basilisk's tank boost on their hulks. The raven shuffled off probably embarrassed.

Day 6. Barrier Highway. Just west of Broken Hill.
If you come into Broken Hill from the west along the Barrier Highway, you will see this huge structure on the Northern side of the road. Next to it is a huge Welcome to Broken Hill sign with a stack of places of interest and accommodation places. I got there at the best time of day, sunset.
