The Tyne Bridge and Swing Bridge Newcastle from the High Level Bridge.

A cropped photo taken in the very early hours of Boxing Day on my way home from Christmas Day meal at Mum's. This footbridge used to be known as the 'wobbling bridge' before dampers were fitted to prevent it from swaying about with pedestrians on it.

I went down to the crossroads, fell down on my knees

...millionth time this photograph has been taken. First time by me though.

Broadgate, City of London.

Don't know why this covered section, made of an old shipping container by the look of it, is sitting on the South Bank.

Lowry Bridge and IWMN, Salford Quays

Back to my old stomping ground and "batter the Quays" project! When sunsets don't materialise over the Quays nature sometimes takes pity and hands out a glorious blue hour instead... this was just such an evening.

I always feel long exposures seem to intensify the blues, which makes it look a little false so I've reined it back in a little bit in post-processing. Plenty of titles for this one but not the one I had in mind since the Lowry theatre doesn't feature in the shot, so I'll save that for a rainy day... no... a blue day!

Track of the day...

Sightseers on Millennium Bridge

The Millennium Bridge, designed by a consortium of British engineering firms, is a steel suspension pedestrian bridge. Construction began in 1998 and opened on 10 June 2000. It crosses the Thames and its southern end is close to the Globe Theater and Tate Modern, while the other end ends near the City of London School under St's Paul Cathedral.

Londoners dubbed it "Wobbly Bridge" after pedestrians experienced an alarming swaying movement on opening day. Following this problem, the bridge was closed two days after the inauguration and remained closed for works for almost two years. The work was carried out by a US multinational, the same that designed the arms connecting the Saturn V rocket to the launch pad, which installed large shock absorbers capable of damping oscillations and ensuring its stability.
