This mill is right across the river from my second favorite pizza place in Westford. I have been eating here for about three months, but I had never really noticed the mill before.

Folly Hall Mill, Huddersfield, is a Grade 2 listed building dating from 1844. The spinning mill was in use for nearly 150 years until its closure in 1993. The fireproof mill was most famously occupied by Joseph Lumb's, a world renowned producer of fine worsted yarn. Lumb's 'Golden Bale' is still internationally recognized as a standard for worsted. The wool used to make the quality yarn in the mill came from Austrailia and a large proportion of the workforce were bused in from Barnsley.

Dumfries Mill may just look like an old building mixed in with a number of 3 story buildings, but if you look closer, this mill was at one time a Weaving mill where fabrics were produced. You can see the port which would have been used for the turbine intake/out-take.

Rajnagar mill, Ahmedabad, Gujarat is an abandoned mill since years which was open for public few months ago.
Ahmedabad was once called the ‘Manchester of the East’ due to the large number of textile mills in the city. Sadly, however, the ‘Manchester of the East’ fell into decline as the years went by and by the 1980s not only were the mills shut down but also lakhs of people lost their jobs! The entire industry was in disarray even as no remedial action was taken.
