Clutching its midsection, the Washington Post declares victory while hanging on by a thread. At some point during the scuffle he was tossed thorugh a fence, falling 8' to the driveway below. HIs only chance for survivial now lies in the hope that someone has called headquarters and alerted them to his dire condition.
Another possible theory we're following up on- did the WaPo EAT The Washington Times? Not even tiny fragments of the Times' red box can be found amongst the rubble, and the WaPo seems to have a bit of a tummyache... we'll let you know as more information become available.
Here's a shot with my Black Series version. I think the general colors on the vintage collection figure are more accurate but until Hasbro reworks the hip joints I would say the Black Series custom I did is the winner.
Much like my refresher of the Black Series Mando from season 1, I bought the TVC Mines of Mandalore figure as I found that it was still the original mold from back in 2019, but with new and improved ankle articulation.
Well, considering the 2019 figure is what made me abandon 3.75 inch collecting, I figured I'd see if I could kitbash an improvement into this older figure and you know, I like it!
What I did was swap the legs from the knee down. Easy enough and if that was all i did I would be pleased, but in addition to that I swapped the hands to the black and orange gloves, and even swapped the belt and bandolier as I wanted the hip armor to match the new knee pad. It did require repainting that little flap that hangs below the belt buckle and back of the belt to match that grey-ish midsection this version of Mando sports. I also added the black cape from the first TVC Beskar Mando as in the show this cape often appears as just black. I then swapped the helmet as I felt the gunmetal color they used was just too dark and the dirt application way too sparse. I then removed that easy to scrape brown paint from his rifle grip and repainted it with some more robust paint.
In the end I think this is huge improvement over the initial release and I'm quite happy with how this turned out.

Tiny Dancer wanted this cupcake maker so bad. I really didn't want to buy him plastic crap, especially considering the bad reviews it got on Amazon, but since this was at the top of his list, and since I wanted to encourage his interest in baking, I got it for him.
I do love it that he was so excited about making the cupcakes, but yo, this thing is crap. You make one cupcake at a time, cook it in the microwave, make the frosting, and then scoop the frosting into the little frosting thing, and then pull the lever to frost the cupcake. And then the frosting glops out all over the place, with a little of it getting on the cupcake. The cupcakes smelled and tasted nasty. The boys had a good time making them - but not eating them. I knew not to expect much from a microwaveable mix, but it was worse than expected (both cupcake and icing). It would be worth using with some other kind of mix and icing, if it didn't just fling the frosting all over the place.
It was fun, but honestly, I think it is more fun [and more time-effective] to make real cupcakes with the boys - and it would be lots easier to frost with a piping bag.
Still - fun Christmas day!! Hope your day was happy too.
Snow blanketed the Northwest Missouri State campus and the B.D. Owens Library, shown here, on the night of Feb. 1, 2011. I was walking slowly through the rain gripping my midsection with my free arm. I was wondering why you hadn't replied to me for a couple days, then I saw you. This is my umbrella at the moment because I was so happy I dropped it and ran into your arms. I was so relieved that I'm still in a good mood. But you know, it was all a dream. A really good dream, but a dream all the same.
APPROXIMATE RELEASE DATE: 2013-
HEAD MOLD "modified Caucasian"
IMPORTANT NOTES: This doll first appeared in 2011, however she did not have eyebrows. The painted eyebrows were introduced in 2013 (thus why I listed my doll as 2013 onward). In 2021, American Girl began selling this baby as #3; previously she had just been listed by skin tone/eye color.
***My doll is wearing the Cuddly Star Outfit.
PERSONAL FUN FACT: It's ironic that my sister and I rescued American Girls on back to back weekends in 2024. First we had scored Noelle, #107, at the Salvation Army on Memorial Day weekend. We were still reeling from the thrill of discovering her when this cutie patootie joined the collection. It was the first weekend of June. The day before, on Saturday, we went to the flea market for our maiden Saturday voyage. In all the years our local flea market has been open, it was always just on Sundays (and seasonally). But with relatively new owners, the shopping days were expanded to include Saturdays as well. We hadn't found much the day prior--just a Cutie Reveal Barbie. But that Sunday looked promising. The parking lot was jam packed with cars, and there appeared to be almost as many sellers. The beautiful weather attracted shoppers and was ideal for vendors too. Colleen and I hoped to find treasures, but didn't anticipate that a Bitty Baby would be one of them.
I've seen more than my fair share of Bitty Babies in the wild. Due to her lower price point and the fact that she's marketed towards younger kids, Bitty isn't seen as valuable. The age range of children that play with her usually kind of trashes the dolls. So it's not unusual to see even more than one on any given flea market trip. I've been reserved over the years in terms of buying them. Most of my babies were the ones that desperately needed rescuing--my three Bitty Twins, Jelly, and Keesha. I've seen minty ones that cost a little more, that I've passed over. And the one I see most often is the grey eyed baby I grew up with. My inner doll mama, however, has a soft spot for those in need. I noted a container with what looked like a doll shopping cart sticking out of it. From a distance, it seemed like it was the Walmart My Life As one Colleen always ogled in stores. I double backed to the booth, to see what else was in the bin. I had noted a cloth baby doll body, but assumed it was just another random infant doll. As I approached the container, two things stood out to me. Number one, there was a "fill a bag for $5" sign. Number two, I had this weird feeling that the baby in question was a Bitty Baby. Colleen was excitedly trying to cram the shopping cart into a plastic bag. I picked up the baby doll. As soon as my hands grasped around her midsection, I knew just from the type of material she was real. I plucked her out of the bin. I assumed based on the blonde hair she was the same doll as Jelly and Bitty--the most common one to find with grey eyes. But as I flipped her around, a beautiful pair of blue eyes was revealed as they opened. I squealed in delight, "Colleen, she's the one with blue eyes!"
Okay, so grey and blue eyes are quite similar. This baby wasn't all that different than two of the girls in my collection. But how could I in good conscious abandon this baby? She was part of the "fill a bag for $5" deal...and there wasn't much else to pick. There were a few random Barbie chairs and a stroller, but nothing else was interesting. The poor infant was naked, dirty, scuffed, and worst of all...she didn't have a mommy. I think of all American Girls, I have the softest spot for Bitty Babies. I don't know why...maybe it's because I used to treat my childhood doll, Bitty, like she was my actual child. Bitty had a car seat, a stroller, a highchair, a crib...you name it, I had it for her. I toted a large, human sized diaper bag around with me wherever I took my doll. I changed her diapers, fed her, burped her...I took my mothering role very seriously (I was nine/ten too...so probably a little old to be doing so). The idea of leaving the doll behind, especially when I technically didn't have her and she was so cheap, was simply not an option. I felt like I would be a terrible doll mother if I abandoned this poor, cast aside baby.
We hadn't even finished the flea market when I had already picked a name for my new baby. Colleen has a work friend named Asia. As soon as she first mentioned her friend long before, I had fallen in love with the name. It's one of those names I put aside in my memory to use on a doll later on. She doesn't look anything like Colleen's friend, funnily enough, but the name suits her just the same. I was very excited by this baby because she was only my second one with eyebrows. All my other girls were too old to have them (not counting my Bitty Twins). I remember when American Girl first revamped the Bitty Baby collection, adding this new feature to the dolls. I was put off by it back then, because I felt the brows took away from their realism. But I got over that with time...in fact I probably forgot. And of course when I rescued Asia, I already had Noni who sports the painted brows. Based on her neck strings, the date on her tag, and the eyebrows, I peg my doll as being from 2013 to early 2016. I just so happened to have a "meet" sleeper from this era--one I purchased years ago on an American Girl sale. It worked out perfectly, although I was still short a diaper and a Bitty Bear (Keesha called dibs on the bear that went to this sleeper years ago).
This little angel was grubby and discarded, but she was not difficult to fix up. I was a little concerned by two flaws when I first adopted her. Number one, she had pink stuff in her lip crevices. Depending on what the substance was, it could potentially be a nightmare to remove (like what happened with my poor Kanani). Secondly, her head had many scuff marks and transfer rubs. I wasn't sure what the condition of her paint would be in once I cleaned her. I had to touch up the paint on Keesha years before (which was time consuming because I had to sponge on light layers to make sure the new paint blended with the old stuff). It took a few scrubs with baking soda and dish soap, and some elbow grease with a magic eraser for the stubborn marks. But in the end, this baby had beautiful paint. Her skin tone also was marvelously fresh looking. I washed her torso and stuffing too. Her cloth body still has pilling, but that's to be expected from all the play she experienced in her previous life. Plus, she'll be wearing clothes all the time, so you won't see that. Did I really need another Bitty Baby? I guess it depends on how you define "need." I NEEDED to rescue this pathetic little cherub, even though I already had plenty of babies at home. For me, I guess I tend not to curate my Bitty Baby collection....it's more like they choose me. I'm glad that Asia picked me to be her dolly mama, and I hope she feels safe and loved with her second family!
The 2013 and 2014 Classic Ariel dolls are posed standing side by side, so they can be compared.
The 2014 doll and her outfit are very similar to the 2013 model, but with some significant changes. The biggest change is in her tail, with is now a greener color, and made from a knit cloth that has imbedded tinsel instead of glued on glitter. Now you can hold her by her tail without glitter shedding all over your hands, which is a big improvement. The tail is a litter shorter, so shows a bit more of her midsection. Her tail fins, made of light blue tulle, are unchanged except now they are without glitter. Her waist fins are much smaller, and are pointing up and sewn to the inside of her tail, instead of the outside. They look much more movie accurate now. Her purple glittery bra is now made of two pieces, with the outer layer crimped to resemble two sea shells. The glitter is well glued to the bra, and doesn't much, if at all.
The new doll has the same head and body as the 2013 doll. She has fully articulated arms and rubbery legs with internal knee joints and fixed angled feet. They both stand 11 1/2 inches tall to the tops of their heads.
Their faces are very similar, but have several subtle differences. The 2014 doll has larger and darker blue-green eyes, and her pink eyeshadow is a little darker. Her brows and eyelashes are the same. She had pale pink rouge that is the same as before, but now her lips are a brighter pink color. I'm not sure which face I like better. I think they are both beautiful and accurate renditions of the movie character.
Her bright red hair is now a little longer and fuller, and has looser curls. Her distinctive curved bang is higher, showing more of her forehead. Her hair is still parted on the wrong side of her head. Last year's hairdo was neater, but I like the new doll's more open face.
The box is a big improvement over last years, solely because of the large photo of the doll in the back of the box. Even a deboxer like me would want to keep the cardboard backing with big beautiful image of Ariel in the back, even if the front plastic part of the box is thrown away.
The overall winner in this comparison is the 2014 doll, because of her glitter free tail and the box art.

Little Daddy C with a boot to the ... midsection... during his match for the 3DW U.S. title in his hometown of Sidney.
Designer Jasmine has been fully deboxed, and is posed standing, supported by the custom doll stand. Her overskirt, freed from the factory restraints, is now wider than the doll stand, and is allowed to drape over the edges of the base. The sunlight was fading as I was taking these photos, so some of the closeups used flash.
First look at the Disney Princess Designer Collection Jasmine Doll. She was released in October 2011, and I got her from eBay shortly afterwards, so It's been more than a year and a half since I got this doll. But I have not yet deboxed her, and this the first time I am doing a full photoshoot of her. I will photograph her boxed, during her deboxing, and fully deboxed.
My Designer Jasmine doll is a limited edition doll that was produced and sold exclusively by the Disney Store, and is numbered 5645 of 6000. She is based on the heroine from the Disney animated feature Aladdin (1992). She comes in an acrylic case with a built-in doll stand, with a base that has a golden filigree design, and a golden metallic nameplate. There is also a cardboard cover for the case that I have not photographed here.
She is 11 1/2'' tall, and has the same body as the other Designer Princess dolls, with jointed neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, waist, hips and knees (internal). She has rubber legs and fixed ankles, with feet angled for high heels.
She has jet black, 12'' long hair tied into a floor length pony tail. There are two golden elastic hairties in the upper and middle part of the ponytail, and the lower portion of her hair has loose curls. It is very soft and shiny. There were a few stray hairs, but I left them alone and did not comb it, as I thought her hair was neat enough as it was out of the box. She has light brown skin, and a unique face sculpt that is very pretty and movie accurate. She has large dark brown almond shaped eyes that are glancing towards her right. She has light blue-green eye shadow, and thick black eyebrows. She has rooted eyelashes, that are tapered in length from short to long, then at the ends there are very long curved antenna like lashes. She has a small straight nose, full dark purple lips in with a closed mouth smile. She has very pale red rouge on her cheeks.
Her three piece gown is made of bright blue-green satin and light blue organza. Her bodice is cropped short to reveal her midsection (including her belly button), and consists of light blue organza embedded with golden gems, draped over her upper arms, and gemmed blue-green satin lower and back sections. Her blue-green satin skirt is floor length and is figure hugging, flairing out at the bottom. It is hemmed and there is a light blue polyester lining. There is a very wide overskirt of the double layered light blue satin. I is open in front, but can be wrapped around to completely cover her inner skirt, or can be folded to reveal her inner skirt.
She is wearing light blue-green high heeled shoes, which match the color of her skirt.
Her accessories include earrings, a chain belt with pendant and Aladdin's lamp. The earrings are large golden triangles with gold colored gems. Her belt is made of fine gold chain, with a large round jeweled pendant just below her waist that gathers the strands of the chain together, the remainder of which fall almost to the floor. In her right hand is a golden lamp that is bejeweled with yellow gems. The top of the lamp is removable (it is held in place with rubber bands, which I left in place).
There were no real surprises revealed by deboxing her, although it was nice to see the full extent of her overskirt. I was also glad to take her out of her awkward head pose, which was a common problem among the Designer Princesses. One thing I didn't like was that her top was a little too short, and revealed her waist joint (that enables her to spin her upper body around 360 degrees). Tugging on her top didn't move it enough to hide the joint in the front. As a consequence, her waist joint moved very freely, and her upper body tended to turn whenever she was handled, aided by her long hair. Also her long luxurious hair is very heavy, so tends to pull her backwards slightly when she is posed on the display stand. Designer Rapunzel has a similar problem. Her very wide floor length overskirt and floor length hair make it difficult to rebox her neatly, which is a common problem with the Designer dolls with very wide floor length skirts.
A distant thundercloud viewed from Limeridge Mall - Hamilton Ontario Canada. What caught my eye about this particular storm/cloud was the "out of the blue" lightning bolt I observed shooting out from the topside of the cloud a short distance and looping around back to the midsection of the cloud back inside. I saw this while driving along Stone Church Rd and pulled into the mall parking lot to see if another lightning strike could be observed.

This is not BW, and I'm not sure how it will look on Flickr yet, but I swear Lizards are showing off for me, everywhere I go. =o) This one was on the window of my office, which of course is not textured like the bathroom window at home. The white band behind his midsection is a line in the parking lot behind him. I got up on a chair to shoot it this way so you could see the silhouette against the lighter color of the parking lot.
This Lizard is hanging upside down on slick glass, a feat in itself I would imagine. A few minutes later he jumped about 2 and a half feet to the window frame and looked back. I didn't get that one, but I was amazed how far he leapt when you consider his size. I think it is fleas who leap furthest for their size, or crickets, but fleas rings a bell. I was still pretty impressed with this leaping lizard!
Hugs and thanks for viewing! =o)

I know this picture looks as if she is pregnant, but that's not the case. Sorry for the confusion of the title... Mean joke I guess. This was done in water colors. Let me tell you that the face was a miracle. I was not expecting it to come out resembling anything like features, but it did, so that's while it was a keeper. I think my skills have gotten better since high school because looking at this woman's feet makes me cringe. One is a continuation of her leg and the other is way too small. Maybe I was subconsciously trying to keep the focus on her midsection...? Who knows.
The nilgai (Boselaphus tragocamelus), sometimes called nilgau, is an antelope, and is one of the most commonly seen wild animals of central and northern India and eastern Pakistan; it is also present in parts of southern Nepal. The mature males appear ox-like and are also known as blue bulls. The nilgai is the biggest Asian antelope.
Nilgai stand 1.2-1.5 meters (4–5 feet) at the shoulder and are 1.8-2 meters (6-6.6 feet) long. Their tails are 40-45 centimeters. Mature nilgai typically weigh 120-240 kilograms.
Calves usually weigh 13.6-15.9 kilograms (30-35 pounds) at birth after an 8 month gestation period. Over 60% of births result in twins, though births of 1 or 3 do occur. They reach sexual maturity at around 18 months and can live as long as 21 years.
Nilgai have thin legs and a robust body that slopes down from the shoulder. Their long, narrow heads are topped by two small conical horns which are straight and tilted slightly forward. Horns on trophy males are normally 21.6-25.4 centimeters (8.5-10 inches). They have an erectile mane on the back of the neck and a tubular shaped "hair pennant" on the midsection of the throat. They have a small triangular tail which moves with a very high frequency when they are excited.
Female nilgai have a short yellow-brown coat. Males' coats gradually darken to a grey-blue as they reach maturity. They have white spots on the cheeks and white coloring on the edges of the lips. They also have a white throat bib and a narrow white stripe along the underside of the body that widens at the rear.
Nilgai can be found in single sex or mixed sex herds of 4-20, although old bulls are sometimes solitary.
Nilgai antelopes are found in the north Indian plains from the base of the Himalayas in the north, down to the state of Karnataka in the South, and from the Gir forest and from all along the entire eastern length of Pakistan and over across the border of Rajasthan in the West to the states of Assam and West Bengal in the East; in Nepal, they occur patchily in the southern lowlands. The population density in central India is 0.07 animals per square kilometer.
Historic notes mention the nilgai in southern parts of India but there have also been suggestion that they may be a feral population.
I believe that the Coimbatore and Salem collectorates are almost the only places in Southern India, in which nil-gai are to be found. It is difficult to account for the animals being thus so widely divided from their usual haunts unless as has been generally supposed, these Southern specimens are the progeny of a semi-domesticated herd, which, at some by-gone period, had escaped from the preserve of a native potentate.
Refer to Anderson on shikar in southern India. Nilgai have existed north of Bangalore and probably still do.
Nilgai were introduced in Texas in the 1920s by the King Ranch for recreational purposes. Over the years some escaped and they are now free ranging in various southern portions of the state.

On Saturday, April 18, a customer in Sutton, WV, reported a baby bear stuck atop a 40-foot utility pole.
“We see bears all the time,” said Bobby Hart, a Mon Power lineman out of the Gassaway Service Center that responded to the call. He acknowledged, however, that encountering a bear perched on a utility pole was “a first for me.”
Hart de-energized the pole so he and his partner, lineman Derrick Kniceley, could safely rescue the cub, interrupting service to a single customer. Fortunately, the baby bear was able to scoot to the top of the pole without coming into contact with the electric line or transformer.
Though he didn’t see momma bear, Hart was pretty certain she wasn’t far away, so the pair called in a state game commissioner for assistance and to watch their backs. The game commissioner concurred that the cub was likely stuck and too frightened to return to the ground on its own.
Plan A called for Hart to climb part way up the pole and try to lasso the cub with a rope and lower it to the ground, but the rope kept slipping off the cub’s midsection.
So it was on to Plan B: Hart and Kniceley reached up high with their yellow extension sticks to gently dislodge the cub’s sharp claws and prod him to walk back down the pole.
“It came down just below the transformer so I could get ahold of it by hand,” said Hart, who had climbed partway up the pole to make the rescue.
He nabbed the cub, who he guessed weighed 20 pounds, by the scruff of the neck and carried it safely to the ground. The cub didn’t growl or bite, staying perfectly still in Hart’s hand. The rescue operation stretched several hours.
Hart handed the cub, which turned out to be a little girl, over to the game commissioner. She was reportedly transported to Pendleton County, WV, for placement in a den with a foster mom.

In Greenville, SC there's this pedestrian bridge over a very minor river (or impressive creek). The bridge basically goes from Main Street to nowhere, but's it's very cool. The (ahem) river actually looks somewhat dramatic from the bridge, with (ahem) waterfalls just before the river swims under the bridge. The bridge also arcs, as if the force of the mighty Reedy River is pushing its midsection downstream. And it even slopes slightly. The bridge is suspended by cables, but they come from two beams that are downstream and, like the bridge, they seem to be pushed away by the river's current. At night, the Liberty Bridge's lighting is not overly dramatic, and errs on the side of being tasteful...which means it's not dominated by your standard (and so overdone it's now a cliche) small white Christmas lights displayed out-of-season. The bridge also has a bit of a spring to it. Subtle, yes, but -- if you want to use it to your advantage -- with some extra "oomph" from you, it can be enough to really give the willies to anyone you're with who's afraid of heights or goes about their day in a "worst case scenario" frame of mind.
I recently acquired a small lot of miscellaneous Tuesday Taylor fashion pieces. The lavender pant from the set on the left were included, but alas the top was not. There was this pink swimsuit-like top that had odd tinsel around the edges. I was puzzled at first, then realized it was the top portion to the pink TT dress from the set on the right. The odd tinsel was actually the midsection netting remnants. It took about an hour to remove the tinsel remnants. I was careful not to break the factory hemline stitching. Since the lavender pant has pink bows, it works well with this pink makeshift/repurposed top.
In order to minimise wastage of material, I carefully made a full cutting plan before I ever started on this project. I was able to cut the necessary eight post mid-section halves from one wide thick board. Even the little strips from the edges did not go unused – they were further cut into thin planks, then short pieces which were used for stain and finish trials.
