This new revision of the MP3 player shield retains the awesome MP3 decoding abilities of the last version but adds the storage functionality of the SD card shield. Now you can pull MP3 files from an microSD card and play them using only one shield, effectively turning any Arduino into a fully functional stand-alone MP3 player! The MP3 Shield still utilizes the VS1053B MP3 audio decoder IC to decode audio files. The VS1053 is also capable of decoding Ogg Vorbis/MP3/AAC/WMA/MIDI audio and encoding IMA ADPCM and user-loadable Ogg Vorbis.
The VS1053 receives its input bitstream through a serial input bus (SPI). After the stream has been decoded by the IC, the audio is sent out to both a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, as well as a 2-pin 0.1" pitch header.

Today I got on myself because I haven’t been looking for a job since we’ve got to Denver. Sure it’s only been a week to the day, but I need a job. I can’t sit around
our apartment all day doing nothing. So I sent my resume out to a few places and
in a matter of less than 3 hours. I got a reply from one, talked to the lady from the
company and hopefully tomorrow or Monday, I will find out if they want me for the
position.
After that, I went back other things, like for instance. I made some new ring tones in Garageband and I wanted to put them on my Blackberry. And as always. I let the gummies help me do it :)

As scheduled, Coolpad has launched the Coolpad Note 3 in India with a price tag of INR 8,999. The highlights of the smartphone are its fingerprint sensor placed on its rear right below the camera (which is not only able to recognize dry finger but wet too and that too, in just 0.5 seconds) and 3GB of RAM. Sporting fingerprint sensor and 3GB of RAM at this price point, the smartphone has become “world’s cheapest smartphone with fingerprint sensor and 3GB of RAM”.
The Coolpad Note 3 will be sold exclusively through Amazon via flash sale which buyers will need to register themselves for. First flash sale is scheduled for October 20 and registration is now open. It is expected that the handset will become nightmare for other manufacturers, especially Xiaomi, Lenovo and Micromax whose devices have been ruling the Indian market.
Running on company’s homegrown Cool UI v6.0 based on Android v5.1 Lollipop, the dual-SIM functionality-enabled Coolpad Note 3 features a 5.5 inch HD IPS display with 720×1280 pixels of resolution offering 178-degrees of wide viewing angle. The smartphone packs 16GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 64GB via MicroSD.
Powering the Coolpad Note 3 is a 64-bit architecture-based MediaTek MT6753 SoC, which packs an octa-core processor running at 1.3GHz of clocked processing speed paired with 3GB of LPDDR3 RAM. The smartphone features a duo of 13 (with autofocus, LED flash, 5 Element HD lens and f/2.0 lens aperture) and 5 megapixels shooters placed on its rear and front, respectively. Both cameras have CMOS image sensor for superior quality of photos.
Connectivity options on the Coolpad Note 3 include GPRS, EDGE, 3G, 4G LTE, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPS and Micro-USB. It comes with 5 sensors – gyroscope, ambient light, proximity, gravity and compass. Further, said to be available in Black and White color options, the smartphone is backed by a 3000 mAh battery with no words on standby or talk-time.

MicroUSB провод, аккумулятор, наушники, зарядник на 700 mA. При этом аккумулятор поставляется на 1800mAh Сам телефон идет с рекламной пленкой, с которой не то, что пользоваться, но и даже убедиться в функционировании не реально. Зато вместе с традиционными бумажками в комплекте оказалась прозрачная пленка и микрофибра. Посмотрим на сам аппарат. Корпус выполнен из приятного на ощупь пластика, по задумке предполагалось, что следов и отпечатков на нем не будет видно. Но все равно видно. Разъемы для наушников и зарядки расположены на верхнем торце, качелька громкости и кнопка выключения экрана на правой грани. Под рекламной наклейкой скрывается ставший стандартом де-факто дизайн. Аппаратные клавиши не имеют подсветки. Рядом с разговорным динамиком расположились датчик освещенности и приближения, а также фронтальная камера. Вроде ничего уникального, но вот динамического управления яркостью на A2010 не хватало. Под крышкой 2 слота для microSIM и microSD флешки. Их расположение не позволяет горячего подключения и отключения.
После загрузки даже перед предложением с выбором языка будет предложено настроить симкарты, если их несколько.
Кстати, сразу после начальной настройки смартфон обнаружил обновление и предложил его установить. Соглашаемся

Предлагается импортировать настройки других устройств, подключавшихся к этому аккаунту. Очень странно, что в списке нет планшета и моего основного телефона.
Определенные инновации можно увидеть в разделе защиты.
Пользователю предлагается настроить не только способ блокировки (pin, пароль или графический ключ), но и выбрать, что именно указывать в уведомлениях.
Идея разблокировки наличием поблизости устройств ненова, особенно она актуальна для владельцев смарт часов и браслетов. Однако следует отметить, что требуется обязательно сопряжение в каком-либо режиме, а не просто присутствие устройства поблизости. Идея использовать фото ранее присутствовала в стандартной блокировке Android, а вот голос и местоположение действительно новинка. Насколько это безопасно? Попробуем проверить позже.
Рабочий стол и экран блокировки порадуют чистотой и простотой. Здесь никакой кастомизации не случилось.
Впервые увидел работающий из коробки вариант реализации печати. Сетевой принтер был найден за пару секунд. Правда скорее всего это не сам принтер, как сетевое устройство, а костыли Chrome, который на ПК видит принтер и через облако дает воспользоваться им через google аккаунт. При выключенном компе вещь бесполезная, благо есть сторонние полноценные решения.
Еще к вопросам безопасности добавили лимит на смс, например чтобы злобные вирусописатели не обнулили счет большим количеством смсок на премиум номер, но уж лучше подключить контент счет, черный список, просмотр приложений, определяющих положение. Кстати телефон работает под управлением Android 5.1.1, а последняя прошивка вышла всего лишь 25 ноября, что дает надежду и на Андроид 6.
Несмотря на то, что в меню есть соответствующий пункт, Wi-Fi 5ГГц девайс так и не увидел. Хотя стандарт N судя по скорости соединения все же поддерживается, хотя и в каком-то частичном виде.
Приятно радует выбор режима работы сети. Увы, не все даже флагманы дают возможности выбрать жестко LTE или 3G, что бывает оправдано в условиях слабого приема. Еще отдельный интерес вызывают пункты меню, посвященные уведомлению о ЧС в РФ и ... Индии.
Что касается памяти, то ее 8ГБ, но пользователю доступно только 3,73. При этом предуставновленных приложений немного, мусора почти нет. Но удивляет, что все они удаляются, а Play Market установлен как сторонний.
Интерфейс звонилки немного отличается от стандартного
Присутствует функционал записи, как обычно не автоматический. Кстати если с телефоном ведется работа, звонок приходит в виде уведомления, а не в полноэкранном режиме.
Кстати нетронутыми остались диспетчер задач и интерфейс смс.
Что касается пары лишних приложений, то одно представляет из себя какой-то китайский индийский маркет, а второе еще один мессенджер. Все это сносится без root.
Свободной оперативки около 300Мб, внутренняя флешка зачем-то поделена на 2 раздела, из-за чего пользователю доступно только 3,72Gb. Процессор имеет 4 ядра с частотой 1,1ГГц. Экран имеет разрешение 480x854, что более, чем достаточно при небольшой диагонали в 4,5". При этом сенсор поддерживает 2 касания, зато работает точно и уверенно. Из датчиков: акселерометр, датчик освещенности и приближения.
Что касается коммуникаций смарта, то представлены замеры скорости для 4G/3G/Wi-Fi. [максимальныую скорость 4G для аппарата удалось поймать на Б.Покровской, она превысила 60МБ/с, что быстрее даже некоторых домашних проводных соединений]. Спутники нашлись менее, чем за минуту. Судя по номерам, это только GPS. Глонасса и Бейдоу нет.
Есть фильтры, но при таком качестве съемки вряд ли они сильно исправят ситуацию. Видео умеет снимать только 720p. Пример съемки

Очевидно, что мощности процессора не хватает и видео жутко мажется. Что касается камеры, то у нее нет фокусировки, установка Google камеры ничего не меняет. Примеры фотографий
Плюсы:
Цена. За 2990 трудно найти даже бюджетку, тем более с 4G на борту

The new smartphone comes with a massive battery pack of 5000mAh capacity and is available for purchase through Panasonic's authorised dealers in the country. Las action cam, o esas pequeñas cámaras HD que en sus comienzos apuntaban sobre todo a los fans de los deportes aventura, son uno de los dispositivos portátiles más buscados por los viajeros. En estos días, voy a revisar dos de estas cámaras: la Sony HDR-AS100V y la Panasonic HX-A100, que en ambos casos filman en HD 1080p, pero tienen una serie de diferencias interesantes tanto en prestaciones como en los agregados que se le pueden hacer.
En esta primera entrada me voy a ocupar del modelo de Sony. Hay que destacar en primer lugar el tema del tamaño, ya que la cámara es realmente pequeña: 82x46x24mm. Y pesa sólo 67 gramos sin ninguno de sus accesorios. Este modelo hace fotos en 13,5 megapíxeles -el formato es JPEG únicamente- y filma video HD (1920×1080 píxeles). Cuenta con micrófono incorporado, así que en principio tienen todo lo necesario para filmar desde turismo aventura hasta recorridos más tranquilos donde necesiten relatar alguna parte. La cámara genera su propio WiFi, por lo que se podrán conectar a ella con un teléfono o tablet.
Uno de los puntos más importantes que comparten las Action Cam es el gran ángulo en el que pueden filmar y sacar fotos. Gracias a ello, son muy útiles para filmar deportes de acción, turismo aventura y, claro, obtener excelentes selfies donde junto a nosotros aparece buena parte del paisaje -si fueron a lugares turísticos, seguramente habrán visto gente usando alguna cámara de este tipo, como las GoPro, para tomar selfies.

Un punto importante es que todos los controles básicos se encuentran en la cámara y en su pantalla externa. Si bien se lo puede integrar de manera muy sencilla a un smartphone o tablet, no van a necesitar todo el tiempo conectar dispositivos, lo cuál es una ventaja frente a otros modelos.
Si al apagar la cámara habían seleccionado el modo video, apenas aprieten el botón REC comenzará a grabar, y de esa manera no se perderán nada de la escena. Si no quieren que eso suceda, la recomendación es dejarlo en modo foto, donde las imágenes sólo se tomarán si usamos el botón principal posterior. En la función intervalo pueden tomar fotos cada 2 ó 10 segundos, algo muy útil si quieren usar la cámara para selfies.
Una opción interesante es Live, que permite transmitir en vivo vía Ustream, aunque debemos conectar la cámara a la computadora o el Wifi del teléfono para que pueda ejecutar esta funcionalidad. Si no quieren accionar o encender la cámara por error, deben dejarla en modo HOLD.
La cámara cuenta con GPS, que resultó ser muy exacto en nuestras pruebas. Sin embargo, es bastante demandante de batería, por lo que es recomendable apagar la cámara mientras no la usen, o verán bajar rápidamente la carga. Para viajes esta función es realmente muy útil, ya que nos marcará donde filmamos cada escena.
El control que viene junto a la cámara es, básicamente, una pequeña pantalla junto con tres botones. Uno para grabar video o sacar fotos, y dos para moverse por el menú de configuración. Permite manejar la cámara de manera remota, por ejemplo cuando se encuentra en el trípode, monopod u otro accesorio. Lo único malo de este control es que la pantalla no tiene demasiado brillo, y bajo el sol las imágenes son difíciles de ver. Otra opción es conectar la cámara a un smartphone o tablet vía la aplicación PlayMemories de Sony. Como app, está disponible para iOS y Android, y también hay una versión Web. Para ello, debene conectar el teléfono o tablet al WiFi de la cámara, y activar el servicio. Si tienen un dispositivo de Sony, el switch se hace de manera automática. También pueden usar el protocololo NFC para las conexiones inalámbricas. En PlayMemories podrán observar las imágenes grabadas y transferirlas a otros dispositivos o compartirlas en las redes sociales.
Un punto interesante es que la cámara se puede cargar vía el puerto MicroUSB. Si se quedan sin batería, pueden usar una portátil para alimentar la cámara. En el caso de querer conectarla a un televisor, deben usar un Micro HDMI. Las imágenes se almacenan en una tarjeta MicroSD.
Junto con la cámara vienen una serie de extras. En primer lugar, un contenedor hermético que permite sumergirla en el agua. Ese mismo contenedor permite usarla en un trípode o monopod, así que seguramente van a utilizarlo de manera muy frecuente. Otros accesorios son una serie de adaptadores que permiten usar la cámara desde una banda en la muñeca, en la bicicleta, un casco o en la correa de la mochila. La opción de la muñeca resultó ser muy cómoda para filmar rápidamente una escena.

El modo Active Movie es el más recomendable para grabar deportes aventura o alguna escena que implique movimiento. También funciona muy bien como cámara de fotos, aunque en muchas ocasiones la imagen aparece un poco sobreexpuesta. De todos modos, los ejemplos en video y fotos quedan para la próxima entrada. La foto que abre la entrada, y la que se encuentra sobre este párrafo, fueron tomadas con la HDR-AS100V.
En resumen: esta cámara es una muy buena opción para quienes busquen alternativas a otras marcas como GoPro o Panasonic. Es muy liviana, y de hecho pueden cargarla en el bolsillo para hacer fotos o tomar videos en lugares que quieran recorrer. Debido a su gran ángulo, van a tener que practicar unos días hasta comenzar a hacer buenas fotos. Es recomendable, de todos modos, llevar un monopod o trípode, sobre todo en escenas nocturnas y si necesitan que el encuadre sea impecable. La batería tiene buena duración, pero si la mantienen encendida mucho tiempo, el GPS puede hacerla descender con cierta rapidez. Sobre todo si tienen teléfonos o tablet Sony la integración con la cámara será muy rápida, aunque con modelos de otros fabricantes tampoco hay mayor problema vía las aplicaciones para iOS y Android. El modo LiveView que acompaña a la cámara es útil, pero en situaciones con mucha luz o bajo el sol en la pantalla mucho no puede verse.
Al menos en Argentina, la cámara se vende a 8000 pesos con el LiveView incluido.
Puede acceder a testear este producto gracias al gentil préstamo de Sony, que me permitió contar con la cámara por algunas semanas.

This new revision of the MP3 player shield retains the awesome MP3 decoding abilities of the last version but adds the storage functionality of the SD card shield. Now you can pull MP3 files from an microSD card and play them using only one shield, effectively turning any Arduino into a fully functional stand-alone MP3 player! The MP3 Shield still utilizes the VS1053B MP3 audio decoder IC to decode audio files. The VS1053 is also capable of decoding Ogg Vorbis/MP3/AAC/WMA/MIDI audio and encoding IMA ADPCM and user-loadable Ogg Vorbis.
The VS1053 receives its input bitstream through a serial input bus (SPI). After the stream has been decoded by the IC, the audio is sent out to both a 3.5mm stereo headphone jack, as well as a 2-pin 0.1" pitch header.

Popcorn is a tribute to the Time-of-day telephone service. Just push the button and it announces the current time.
BACKGROUND
Starting around 1950, you could dial 'POPCORN' anywhere in Northern California and you'd get an automated time-of-day announcement. In 2007, AT&T stopped offering the service because of decreased usage and because the equipment was no longer serviceable. I always thought it would be fun to do my own version of popcorn using different voice samples, and finally got around to putting it together. If you're curious what the original popcorn sounded like, here's a sample mp3.
THEORY OF OPERATION
Popcorn uses an LCD UI module and Propeller Platform SD. The only hardware I added was a headphone jack that goes out to a computer speaker. Everything else is stock.
The microSD card holds the code and voice samples as 16-bit mono wav's. Each number has its own wav (00.wav - 19.wav, 20.wav, 30.wav, etc) and so do the supporting phrases (morn.wav = "Good Morning", pst.wav = "At the tone, Pacific Standard Time Will be", and so on). You can switch out the samples by changing the files on the SD card.
One cog manages the screen, updating it continuously, and checking to see if the 5-way d-pad has been center-pushed. Pushing center will enter a time update mode to let you change the time and date. A second cog manages the audio announcement. It checks to see if the big red button has been pushed. If so, it asks the RTC for the time and plays the appropriate wav files.
If you've got a Propeller Platform SD and LCD UI, you can try it out by downloading the code + samples. Just copy to a microSD and turn it on and it will start up. With a Parallax Protoboard or demoboard, you'll probably want to change the pin assignments and you'll need to add a DS1307 Real-time clock.

I publish this short video just as first clear note, an evidence, a report to the seller that now seems not so friendly and does not belive to my report in Ebay...
I usually do not do this kind of reports, if not necessary, or seem to be necessary.
The problem stay in the microSD card mechanism, unable to expell the card, it remains inside as retained by a resin, or by an aged, hardened lubricant.
It's the first time this happens to me, after having received 10+ of these DJI quadcopters.
It's possible to extract it only with some difficulty by levering below, on the thooth of the card using two fingernails or maybe with a tweezers.
It's not a serious fault, of course, but it is an annoying defect.
At the moment I have not still activated this Phantom and not even connected with the RC, now under charging, so I don't know if everything else works normally.
[Not so easy to do this video without shaking, using the camera of a 10" tablet, having only 2 hands and avoid video cuts...]

Fortunately the issue is gone, with use the mechanism freed itself and now works as it should, normally.

Before ordering boards that are really tightly packed or have new footprints, I always print a 1:1 of the board and place the components on it to make sure they fit.
I found a fatal error in my 3M MicroSD socket footprint on this board, whoops! Amazing what a difference 0.4mm makes!
I use regular old Scotch double-sided tape to make sure they don't fly off the paper at the slightest provocation.

It seems that Xiaomi was silently working on a new entry-level smartphone – the Mi 8014816 which has been spotted at TENAA where it got certified by the certification authority and its specifications got revealed. As of now, Xiaomi hasn’t revealed anything regarding launch, price and availability of the handset.
According to TENAA’s listing, the Mi 8014816 boots Android v4.4.4 KitKat and features a 4.7 inch HD display with 720×1280 pixels of resolution. The handset is powered by an unspecified chipset which packs a quad-core processor running at 1.2GHz of clocked processing speed mated with 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage which is expandable up to 32GB via MicroSD.
The Mi 8014816 features a duo of 8 and 2 megapixels shooters placed on its rear and front, respectively. Connectivity options on the entry-level handset include GPRS, EDGE, 3G, 4G LTE, GPS, Micro-USB, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. Further, the smartphone measures 134×67.21×9.2mm and weighs 134 grams.

This lovely little shield is the best way to add a small, colorful and bright display to any project. We took our popular 1.8" TFT breakout board and remixed it into an Arduino shield complete with microSD card slot and a 5-way joystick navigation switch (with a nice plastic knob)! Since the display uses only 4 pins to communicate and has its own pixel-addressable frame buffer, it can be used easily to add a display & interface without exhausting the memory or pins.
The 1.8" display has 128x160 color pixels. Unlike the low cost "Nokia 6110" and similar LCD displays, which are CSTN type and thus have poor color and slow refresh, this display is a true TFT! The TFT driver (ST7735R) can display full 18-bit color (262,144 shades!). And the LCD will always come with the same driver chip so there's no worries that your code will not work from one to the other.
The shield has the TFT display soldered on (it uses a delicate flex-circuit connector) as well as a ultra-low-dropout 3.3V regulator and a 3/5V level shifter so its safe to use with 5V Arduinos. We also had some space left over so we placed a microSD card holder (so you can easily load full color bitmaps from a FAT16/FAT32 formatted microSD card) and a 5-way navigation switch (left, right, up, down, select).

Today I was going to do a macro of my chill pad, but that seemed kind of boring. So I brought out the gorilla pod....then the gadgets came out of the woodwork! This was the last shot before they knocked over the tripod ;o)
